The problem is that if you’re in the online at all, most likely your information is already all over the internet and can be taken. Everyone’s info is mainly public and if someone spends enough time, you can dox anyone. You can really thank social media for that.

If you sign up for any sites with emails, personal info, etc, there’s a high chance it can be found publicly.

In terms of morality, I do think that doxing is extremely hard to justify in most cases and is almost never warranted. I think it's a very immature way of dealing with issues you have with other users.
However, there are reasons that I would deem valid for doxing someone. These are mainly things like someone actively being a pedophile (with proof provided) online. In a case like this, doxing could help law enforcement get ahold of the user. Whether this information should just be forwarded to LE or spread around online depends on the behavior of the person imo.

I think revealing someone's identity is probably alright, depending on what they've done. I don't really think that posting their home address and such is okay in most circumstances however as that's basically an invite for someone to show up and do something violent.

However like most things in life, there's no clear cut answer. Most regular people shouldn't be doxed for their online opinions or behavior at all, but there's some truly vile people who deserve the whole nine yards.

I think that going out of your way to post someone else’s information online for other internet users to see is pointless and childish. I mean, even in cases of a pedophile, just report them and send that information to Law Enforcement

I think it's a highly abused method of attack. If you're not doxxing as offensive defense, you're a shit person. Too many people try to exploit it and extort people. It has its place as a method of exposing the true animals out there, but that's really the only use for it that I consider.

I think it wouldn't be anywhere near as easy to do as it was prior to 2020. The combination of the 2020 election and Covid meant that Google went out of it's way to fuck up it's own algorithms to control "disinformation," and it has not repaired them.

Anyway the fact it's harder to DOX is probably mostly a good thing as at least 97% of the time it's just going to be evil people cyber bullying and psychologically torturing someone.

I suppose it's just situational. It can be used for something completely innocent or entirely malicious. What you're getting the info for and what you're going to do with it are of course what mainly decide how someone will feel about it.
