I mean, HF is extremely well moderated, lenient when it comes to speech, and generally welcoming. I have only been on HF for a few months, but it is exactly why I stayed. The member base is cool as fuck, and if you have a question that needs answered, you typically get it answered. Of course HF has had a decline, all forums have experienced that. I may not have been around HF when it was booming, but I would say it is still doing pretty damn good.

This forum has been online for over 17 years, and it's the oldest one I know of. Many forums have come before, others exist alongside it, but they generally end up being seized by the authorities. So, it's difficult to build a trustworthy profile with these 'temporary' forums, which also attract a lot of scammers. And let's not even mention Telegram or Discord, which are ideal places for scammers.

If you pay attention to HF member's profiles it's not rare to see members being a part of the forum for many years or even a decade. Furthermore, HF has a more mature community with people who are often highly experienced. If you want to learn or discuss technical topics, then you're in the right place. I tried other forums, I never received any answers to my technical questions to be honest.
