I've watched a lot of anime's recently and I have a couple of answers and can't decide on which one is my favorite.
Here's a top 3 of my favorite anime protagonists.
1. Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia
2. Tanjiro Kamado from Demon Slayer
3. Asta from Black Clover

I'm not huge into anime, but one of my friends is and I've heard them talk a lot about Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia as well!
Didn't watch Black Clover and Demon Slayer, so I would say Izuku but I'll develop, what I like about this anime is that season 1 is clearly something "happy", "magical" with lot of hopes and stuff, and as the seasons go and the character grow up, it turns into something more dark because they realize that being a hero also means sacrifice, death, and so on.
I'm really happy to see that the anime "followed" the watchers as well, I mean watchers grown up and they grown up with the characters it's not that childish anymore

Mine are:
1. Goku from Dragon Ball
2. Luffy from One Piece
3. Light Yagami from Death Note
It's really not easy to decide. Because I like others so much.
Forgot the name of the anime/character, so I'll name my second favorites.
Kamina from Guren Lagann and Rel Meyer from Ergo Proxy.
Haven't watched any good anime in a long ass time, mostly just watch trash now while I wait for the good stuff to fully release.
I've only watched Dragon Ball Z and that's all the anime I needed. Goku is my all time favorite.
Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx by far.
It's not even close.
