Tropical Storm Milton is now classified as a Hurricane and rapidly intensifying. Currently most models show a direct impact to Florida, specifically targeting the Tampa bay area.
Florida officials are currently suggesting this could be the largest evacuation event since 2017.
If you are in the impacted areas please heed warning and prepare accordingly. The storm is rapidly intensifying and is forecasted to make landfall as a Category 3. Tampa has not had a direct impact in almost 100 years.

Space echoes like an immense tomb, yet the stars still burn. Why does the sun take so long to die?

How strong would a Category 3 be compared to the highest Category 5?
Is it considered a immediate danger towards those in near vicinity or is it just "don't be outside" kinda danger..

111-129mph winds that will definitely cause severe damage. Flooding is likely. It is an immediate danger to anyone directly in the storm path and it is very likely that some who choose not to evacuate will die. Harsh reality, but there's always someone who chooses not to leave and then never has to leave again. If you're in the area and can leave, board up and leave.
Stay safe everyone! Crazy how it’s been back-to-back’s

Terrible news, I had no idea the Category 3 hurricanes had such big impact.
Very saddening towards those families that have worked many years towards building a stable and good home to live in, to end up having it completely destroyed by nature itself.

Helene is far worse due to it being a less common occurrence for where it hit. Floridians at this point should be well aware of how to deal with this and anyone living there should pretty well understand the risks. I don't think anyone born within the last 50 years would be caught off guard knowing that much of Florida gets pummeled by storms on a regular basis. Still a bit sad, but also, natural selection is a factor. Don't build houses of out twigs when the big bad wolf comes to town a few times per year.
Hurricane Milton has rapidly intensified and is now a cat 5.
I feel so luck when there's no things like that anywhere near where I live. I just hope that people evacuate asap and do what they can to stay safe.

I live pretty damn far away from where Helene initially struck, in fact around 600 miles but it came to my state and did a good bit of damage, knocked power out for days, obviously nowhere near the damage that happened in places like Ashville.
I never seen anything like that hit here out of all the years I been here, the most we ever got was some rain.
My point, don't think just because you don't live anywhere near that these hurricanes cannot have an impact on you.
Best to stay aware of hurricanes and weather patterns just in case, I will be doing so going forward.

True, but I live far far away, like, other side of the globe far away...almost :D
According to google the worst storm in recent history here was Tapani (2011) but to be honest, I never even noticed it. Wikipeia says that one old man supposedly died because a tree fell on him and that there were power outages.
Stay safe people, went from Category 1 to Category 5 within a 9 hour time span.

It's so sad. I've seen a few videos while scrolling on TikTok of people saying they're not going to evacuate for one reason or another while they're in the direct path of the hurricane . These people are probably going to die and it boggles my mind that they'd rather make excuses than find SOME WAY to get the hell out of there. There's always a way, they just don't want to try.
Yeah, it's really terrible what's happening with all the hurricanes. I pray that everyone will be logical and evacuate. Home owner's insurance is a thing for a reason. No since in risking your life for some pride. It's not like you can hold the roof down and the house together.
Hurricane Milton has been upgraded to a Category 5.. This is going to be a storm of the century. I pray for all the individuals in the area, and please get out of there
Not only is it a cat5 now, but it is undergoing an eyewall replacement.
Which means the winds may slow down in the short term, but in the long term it is likely to grow even larger and more intense.
I may be loading up my truck and taking a drive down soon as I have lots of family refusing to evacuate, who are directly in the path where it's projected to make landfall.
I can not be any more clear, if you are in the Tampa/Sarasota area PLEASE make all efforts to evacuate north or at the very least further inland.
