New Project | YARA Scanner | No reporting, NO BS.

Been working on a new project ( I know I always say this..) and this one is going to change the game. All these sites like virustotal.com and virscan.org are all sketchy in my book. If you read the fine print, they share hashes and will report your files uploaded. So I took a deep dive into why these sites ultimately do this.

Its because in order to use the anti-virus's Api's they want the hashes. Its really as simple as that. So I have been developing my own online scanner. It will be completely free and run off of donations by the community. This is no ordinary scanner. It will leverage over 18mb of Yara rules. It will also use open ai's api to describe to the user what the detections mean. I hope to have this up and running very soon..

So will this be the most effective scanner on the market, no as it is only Yara rules. However, since this project used basically $0 to start I will be having all donations bank-roll into new development on the web app. I want to make file scanning free. Privacy with us will be unmatched. Upload and scan, cut and dry. Nothing is recorded so therefore; nothing can be reported.

It is my personal promise that nothing will ever be reported.

well open AI api is not that expensive nor cheap but still its 3rd party that is handeling your data...i would recommend to maybe use LM Studio and hosting an own local model that can provide description of detected rules. one downside is that you need cpu and enough memory to run at least 8B parameter model... that being said it would highly improve privacy as well.

what is expected costs of running this kind of service? Would you accept paypal/credit card transfers/donations or pure crypto for privacy as well?

This will be a free service. Overhead is just hosting and api costs. Depending on how many people call the api and use it, it shouldnt be more then like $100 a month. All donations will be in crypto only. I also am not worried about the api knowing my data as its just reading rules. Files are not uploaded to the api, just to my own server. The api is only called to read the rules.
