CONFIGURE YOUR FIRST SERVER ON THE DARKNET
This thread is part of a larger project that will detail how the Tor network works, as well as provide a guide for attacking sites with .onion URL links.
This tutorial doesn't explain how to configure a web server, follow the instructions only if you have already configured your web server.

0. CONTEXT 🧅
You want to sell something on the darkweb, you've configured your webserver on a Linux server but you don't know how to put it online. Read this tutorial.
1. INSTALLATION 🛠️
Install the tor package :
Code
sudo apt install tor2. CONFIGURATION ⚙️
Edit the following file : /etc/tor/torrc and uncomment the lines in white (uncommenting means removing the "#" signs)
(of course, if you configured, and I recommend you to, your webserver with TLS certificate change the default port to 443 or a custom)

If you've configured a web server on your computer this will automatically point to the path relatd to the web server (which is usually /var/www)
3. THE .ONION LINK 🔗
After editing the torrc file, just restart the service
Code
sudo systemctl restart torThe .onion link should be now in the following file :
/var/lib/tor/hidden_service/hostname
For your information, few years ago Tor updated .onion link to V3, here is how to differenciate them from V2 :
V2 link [16 characters]: expyuzz4wqqyqhjn.onion
V3 link [56 characters]: 83w0vhsrz4xeep6pgbnocj0xpqjpocv3i8o8ewpmm3nhttr0t0ka6tlf.onion
3bis. Custom .onion link
Here is a tip to get a "custom" .onion link. As you can see, .onion links are a string of random chars and numbers, however with the right tools you can generate (at least for the beginning of the link) a custom string, for example : hackforumsdn9czkj2xdj8cokt75lai6e12ntd9ljhlh1mxktkyy0ahs.onion
You can get custom .onion links with :
- Scallion > GPU-based, faster
- Shallot > CPU-based, requires more time
The longer and more specific your string is, the more time it takes to generate. A string of 3 to 5 characters can be found in a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the power of your GPU or CPU. For longer strings, it may take several days or weeks.
Scallion (GPU-based)
Code
sudo apt update
sudo apt install git build-essential mono-complete
git clone https://github.com/lachesis/scallion.git
cd scallion
xbuild Scallion.sln
./scallion/bin/Debug/scallion hackforumsThe .onion link will start with hackforums[then random numbers and chars].onion
Shallot (CPU-based)
Code
git clone https://github.com/katmagic/Shallot.git
cd Shallot
make
./shallot omniscientThe .onion link will start with omniscient[then random numbers and chars].onion
4. ACCESS YOUR WEBSITE 🖥️
As we saw earlier the .onion link is in the following file :
Code
/var/lib/tor/hidden_service/hostnamePut the link in Tor Browser and you should be able to access it. This is the link you'll share to people.
