US Inflation 3%

What does this mean for the macro economic? I'd like to hear US based members comment on this. Will it force Powells hand at doing a rate cut even though he didn't hint at one?

Already moving in the right direction is what this means.

Under Trump's 2016 term, inflation was at an average 1.9%
Under Biden & Scamala's term, inflation was at an average 5.2%

It's been less than a month since Trump officially took office for a second time, and inflation is down by 2.2%.
*Yes I know this isn't the average rate yet, though it's still huge progress in a very short time.

I think overall we will see inflation decrease, just hope this won't f* up the markets further.

Okay, so if this stuff keeps going down like this, it could really mess with the macroeconomy. Powell might have to do something, even if he said he wouldn’t cut rates. I think he’s trying to play it cool and not mess with the markets too much, but if the economy tanks or inflation keeps rising, he might not have a choice. Honestly, it all depends on how bad things get, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he changes his tune eventually. It’s all about long-term stability, I guess.
I think with all the DOGE cuts etc, they are letting the markets get fucked a bit and inflation, but eventually they will come back saying deficit is fixed, inflation is improved etc, and pump the hell out of everything, which will demonstrate trump/elon's work.

Mainly due to balance sheet reductions and rate hikes, the opposite of which was the main driver of inflation.

Inflation expectations for the coming months point to continued inflationary pressures on U.S. households. According to the January 2024 Fed Survey, annual inflation expectations remained steady at 3.0% for one to three years, but rose to 3.0% for five years from 2.7% the previous month.

This is your brain on MAGA. Inflation rising since Trump won the election but we're stuck comparing the economy to COVID era after Trump gave out 450 billion then Biden gave out something in that ballpark too, but its actually a good thing its rising because Trump.

Yeah, it's going in the right direction but short term it spooked the markets a little bit. We're expecting a miracle to be honest, a rate cut at this inflation I think it's not really an option.

5% inflation seems to be the new norm, who can say when it will get under control. You have to understand that Trump's tariffs could potentially increase inflation for consumers. The economy is doomed overall long-term. We're not ever going to get out of the national debt, the dollar is doomed. What's going on now is just the inevitable conclusion to massive spending and printing of endless dollars. My opinion is that only Bitcoin can save us.
