Anybody Ever Get Funded?

I've been trading for about 3 years now in the forex market. I've made a decent amount by being able to 2x my account about 3 to 4 times. Problem is I keep withdrawing because I need the money so my accounts never grow significantly. So my question is has anybody ever gotten funded through a prop firm and how do it work really? I think I can handle some of the rules like the 5% daily loss and the 10% max loss that some props have. You can only withdraw profits right? So what happens if you go in the red after profiting do they close your account?
Every prop firm has different rules, some will have max daily loss and some will work with trailing usually.
I myself trade futures through prop firms not Forex, after you get funded and reach the profit target and followed their rules you simply request a withdraw, if you didn't withdraw and hit your max loss/trailing you are out.

I'm using FTMO. Their rules are pretty simple imo.

Max daily is 5%, Max total is 10%.

So like say I get 10% profit then lose it back down to base would I lose funding?

hmm no you won't lose the account if that happen in a single day.
i dont trade with FTMO but lets say by what you are saying 5% daily and 10% total, lets say you start with 100k.

on day 1 you can lose up to 5k, if you make 5k and lose 5k, you have another 5k i believe.
if you make 5k on day 1, 2,3 and on day 4 you lost 6% and your account balance is above 100k you might still lost your account just beacuse you broke your daily loss limit, i can't tell you for sure it all depends on the prop firm's specific rules regarding daily loss limits and drawdowns.

Anyways Forex is trash to trade, if you are not a consistent trader yet on Forex try futures instead.

What about margin accounts? I don't do Forex so I'm not sure if it's related.

I'm pretty consistent to be honest. I've tried Futures and stocks and am never anywhere as profitable as I have been in Forex.

Forex already has margin in it in the form of leverage, it is basically impossible to trade Forex without doing leverage of some sort. Most offer 50:1 leverage.

If my understanding of margin is correct, could be wrong.

I have done it. On FTMO as well but the rules are hard for me somethimes to maintain. Reason for that its 5% daily loss is not loss in balance its also in equity so (drawdown) i have passed the 2 step challange of 10k account did some withdrawels. But one mistake after and your account is closed with the same rules.
So really make sure to follow always there rules and you are good to go!

Yeah that's one major concern of mine is the losing the account shortly after passing the challenge. I was so close to passing the first step but had some bad losers drop me back down.

I understand and thats the risk with prop firms. And a good way for them to earn! But if you can handle the risk management and dont be greedy money can be made for sure!
Most IR's won't touch you without being licensed in one way or another, series 65,66 if you can get sponsor s7.

Your only luck would be from FaF or angel investor who believes in the vison. Some will require you to have a ppm or at least an example of one. Best of luck.

Sucks to hear my guy. I am pretty consistent however.
I've been trading with my own funds, & funded prop accounts for years, they're very profitable if you run a good strategy.
i have used ftmo and e8 funding, they seem pretty well working with me, there are many out there but we need the legit ones, propfirms can close anytime while forex brokers cant
