Currently trying to find tours, hotels, and attractions in the DPRK. Pricing is not an issue; I'm just trying to be safe, so I might take a different phone with nothing on it except SMS and three SIMs: a local SIM, a China SIM, and a DPRK SIM.
I think this could be fun. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Don't touch a Kim portrait (cc to Otto Warmbier)
You're not actually planning to visit North Korea?
Be aware that the smallest deviation from their rules could end you in jail for life. Remember the American who took a picture from a wall, and was subjected to all kinds of abuse which destroyed his brain which led to his death. (His name escapes me).
Stay away from North Korea! Instead visit South Korea which is what NK would be had it not been for the dictatorship. It's the same people.
Never been there myself but know travellers.

I am planning on traveling to it.
I would not take any "personal" items, certainly not a personal laptop and phone. Assume you are being surveilled at all times.
I bet you're in for a hell of a trip.
If you go to South Korea visit jeonju and gunagju. Beautiful cities with a lot of history and active night life if you like that stuff. I lived there for a couple years. Had I not met my wife and had children in the states later, I would have moved back and lived till I die in Korea.
As for North Korea, I hope you document your travels, it'd be interesting to watch/read.
This looks like a cool decision. I hope you gain something different from this journey.
That sounds like an interesting trip! I've heard that the Pyongyang Metro and the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun are must-see attractions in North Korea. Enjoy your travels!
Just be aware and supportive of the regime , you will have a guide with you 24/7 i am pretty sure but it will be very interesting , i have seen newer footage of tours in NK where they take you to care dealerships and shopping centres ( propaganda of course ) but very interesting experience
But yeah be careful of the political climate in the time you are going to arrive , with the whole Otto Warmbier political tensions where high at the time and none really thinks he actually committed the crime it was just to prove a point
Verdict : Do it for sure you only live once but if your country is pissing NK off at the time re adjust travel plans

Haha see things like that might get you somewhere less then ideal
Just have fun have them show you some cool fake shops and stuff , it would be crazy to see the hotels and what kind of propaganda they will pull out for you
If your going to SK i would recommend the DMZ , you might even catch them shooting in eachothers rough directly
Reserve that kind of stuff for South Korea where you won't be intermediately jailed
