I have been thinking a lot lately about what can happen in few years with AI progress. What can go wrong or right etc... Are you more on the optimistic or pessimistic side? (I am always trying to be realistic but the negatives outweigh the positive scenarios) But seriously I do my best focusing on what is now and trying to live in the moment but still sometimes I cant help and wonder what future is awaiting us.
Are you afraid of the future? |

Its better to be worried and on the side of caution. Things that can go right are going right already. Things will start going wrong when we start seeing AI based weapons/drones and then finally AGI.
At first i hated AI and thought it was a bad thing. Now after years i have changed my mind and im all for it. Remember....fight fire with fire - Metallica
The world brought to you by tech Bros in silicon valley is for sure the end of us all. We need more Luigi's and then maybe the shitbags steering the ship into rocks will give up the helm. I believe llm, ai, agi will be great if they are for the people rather than weaponized against the people.

Not in support of nepo baby, trust fund, incells controling it. We will never have our techtopia until we decentralized and behead the current systems.
Elon Musk is exemplary of the AI field as a whole. The answer to the dangers of AI is more AI. I don't worry about it much, though. The issue is largely academic, and at worst will probably cause societal and infrastructure changes that we don't like.
It also helps to believe in a higher power than AI.
I am optimistic about the future as technology continues to advance and become more complex. If you would've asked me about AI 15 years ago I would've been like wtf are you talking about, robots?
Now, I use AI daily to help with tasks. You never know what the next technological advancement will be, but I feel like it will be a positive one nevertheless. Surely, they won't bring about the downfall of humanity. The best and brightest also brought us the atomic bomb. As Schopenhauer said, "They were so busy thinking whether they could, they never asked themselves whether they should". (actually it was Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park that said that, not Schopenhauer, but that didn't sound as cool). For my part, I tend to listen to Jaron Lanier and Nick Bostrom on this topic. They appear to me the sanest. Also Stuart Russell, but he's kinda boring (sorry, Stu-pot).

Well i am not scared .But i think not the AI should scary you in the future but be scared of a war ,another pandemic etc .If the elite decide it create another pandemic who will make us suffer a lot
The only thing i'm afraid of is the amount of bullshit and blind trust of people in AI outputs
Peopel who don't know really how things worked and how those AI's trained and which rules applies to them, are being fooled by the day and in few years it will be just too much wrong info out there with the blind trust of people into it.
I think it's important to consider both the potential positives and negatives of AI progress. It's definitely a topic that raises a lot of questions about the future. It's good to stay informed and aware of the possibilities.
I think we will see a much faster proliferation of advanced/custom malware, but I also think that that AI will have a lot of positive outcomes. I'm not really worried about the future, we'll adapt as we typically do (I hope). I'm more worried about the present, where AI is not as far along as its marketed as and yet it is being pushed into everything just to make a quick buck.
At the same time, I don't really imagine a world where humans don't look at almost every new invention/discovery and ask "hey how can we use this in new and violent ways?" We'll do the same with AI, hopefully the good outweighs the bad. |
