Doesen't he know that these countries will impose tariffs too? And didn't he always pull back all tariffs?

Yea he usually just uses them as threats to get something. Like a bargaining chip I guess.
More wine for us 😎
I don’t really understand the strategy behind this, Trump wants to tariff so much but the concerned countries will do the exact same thing, not sure if it will be worth it at the end.
I can get that it’s better to buy products from your own countries than importing, but every country has its specificities and know-how, it’s a win-win.

I love wine lol i cook with red ones often. I usually buy ones made local or in South America. Idk man I’m not an economist by any means so we shall see how all this plays out, give it a year and compare prices is about all we can do I guess.
I love wine…..so sad news
And you thought it was bad when you lost Temu.

Hahaha, it's your loss Americans. Don't you remember the Monty Python joke:
"American beer is like having sex in a canoe. It's fucking close to water". 😄😄😄
I am cheerful because it's Rsynced's birthday today. May he get a sunny day. 🌞🌝🌞

How are you finding life since the tariffs?

Didn't change anything to me so far I think, didn't notice any changes regarding the price of the things I buy
65% of all wine consumed in America is domestic anyways. Seems like a nice way to boost domestic sales.

The US dollar has been high against the dollar where I live so I don't see that the US dollar is doing badly I check it daily as I get royalties paid from the US, so it's not doing badly, unless this country is doing horrendously. I've seen a lot of Americans online crying about Temu though.

Do you think he randomly did this for fun? That was a silly prank of some sort with no purpose behind it?

I would like to see the exact economic research that justifies an overly broad tariff for this.
...You know, the point of tariffs... Which are not retaliatory measures, not intended for blanket or widespread tariffs, and are usually under Congressional authority.
Hint: There is no economic research, this is a retaliatory tariff not based in mathematics or financials.

No. Of course not. Trump’s reasoning behind imposing tariffs obviously stems from a mix of economic nationalism and attempts at strategic leverage.
Trump has long argued that the U.S. has been taken advantage of in global trade deals. He seems to believe that tariffs will protect American industries from cheap foreign imports, encourage domestic manufacturing, and bring jobs back to the U.S. I'm just not sure if this will all actually work.
This strategy was applied to allies like Canada and the EU with the idea that unpredictability would force better trade deals.
In regards to India however it seems like Trump was just frustrated that Prime Minister Modi didn’t nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize, unlike Pakistan
