Learn How Not To Be a Dumb ass Like Me

Want to learn how to not be a dumb ass?

Well, first.. let's define what is a dumb ass? A dumb ass was me for the past 48 hours. Why was I a dumb ass for the past 48 hours? I managed to lock myself out HF for over 48 hours, and convinced myself that somehow I got kicked off the site.

Wait.. what?

Yeah. I was using the HF the other day, and I was randomly logged off the site. When I tried to log back in, I couldn't get back in. I reset my password, and still couldn't login. Tried a couple more times, and eventually locked my account due to trying to many times.

Keep in mind, shortly before getting randomly signed off, I did something that I assumed might of got me kicked off the site, or maybe temp banned from the site - which was post an email address to the email that I got from the MetaMask scam. As many of you know, Omni lost a couple dollars from what we can only believe is a MetaMask hack. So when my account got randomly logged off maybe 30-45 seconds after posting the email address, I thought maybe he thought I was some how involved with the MetaMask thing, and that I was trying to get people contact email address or some bs like that. Idk, I'm not sure how I convinced myself that... but I did.

I could still see my threads from outside the site, so I wasn't completely convinced that I was removed from the site, but I thought maybe he wanted to investigate me a little more. Haha.. yeah, pretty dumb. I know most people wouldn't of even shared this story.. but I truly don't care what people think and find the whole thing hilarious now that I'm back on.. so will share the story with you all.

So why couldn't I log back in the site all those times I tried? So 48 hours after me initially getting logged off, I reset my password again... I attempted to login with my email and password. Login failed. Turns out I was attempting to log in with my email address, and not my username this whole time. My browser has my email address & password stored, and automatically fills out the field with the email address.. so assumed that was what we use to login.. as I, like most people don't log out and back in the site every time I visit.. and didn't realize that the login was username only.

So after 48 hours, I was finally able to log back in the site. I know Omniscient got a good laugh about the whole thing, as I sent him a message asking him what was going on?? He knew there was nothing wrong with my account, and let me figure it out on my own.

So yeah.. if you don't want to be a dumb ass.. don't try and login your account with your email address.. over and over again. 😆😆
I didn't learn anything from this thread. You are most definitely dumb.
Lol your story is a hilarious reminder that sometimes the simplest mix-up can spiral into a 48-hour saga—glad you’re back and laughing about it!
Haha, glad that you were able to go back to HF, I'm sure it already happened to me on other websites as well, so many usernames and email addresses nowadays
Nice, I can relate to the over thinking.
Its fun y when it takes over but the answer was so simple the entire time, glad you're back
Honestly, this feels like something I've done many sites over. Dumbass, but so am i!
***I ONLY deal on HF. I will not add you on Discord or any other app. Beware of scammers!***
Over thinking perhaps? Mabey to much to drink, or medications, or ?
Good to see you back on HF , would definitely miss a HQ like you around.
Happens with me as well , as everyone uses diff email & diff email on various sites
