Lombard Finance (LBTC) - Liquid Bitcoin Staking

I came across Lombard Finance a few weeks ago and have been researching it whenever I find the time to do so. It's basically native Bitcoin staking which allows DeFi possibilities with Bitcoin

Today I staked a portion of my BTC portfolio and got some LBTC on the Sui chain. It's cross-chain and most popular blockchains are integrated. I used this LBTC to on Suilend to receive a 3.78% lending APR. This rewards both DEEP and Lombard Lux points, which is their ranking system. It doesn't really have any value now but it might make you eligible for rewards in the future as they expand.

Would love to spark a discussion here about it. Have you heard of it? Used it? Plan to use it?

Thanks.
I'm pretty sure this is the only Bitcoin staking available and it's only on Sui network.

I worded that poorly, my bad. The stake indeed is on the Sui network but you can use the stake to access DeFI applications on other chains.

Bitcoin has "unofficial" off-chain staking at exchanges like Kraken but the APY is very close to 0% which is why I am excited for this staking solution.
I'm sort of scared to stake my Bitcoin. Prefer to keep it cold storage.
About 50% of my BTC is now LBTC and is earning me about 6% APY on Sui using AlphaLend (https://alphalend.xyz/).

LBTC isn't without underlying risks, however. Their staking model is much more secure than using something like wBTC, but it does still introduce risk into the equation.

In weeks to months, Ika + Nativerse are launching their BTC staking solution which will be the most secure solution in existence. I'll try to learn more between now and then so I can explain why it's considered to be the most secure Bitcoin staking solution.

Very excited for Ika to launch.

Sui will also see Threshold BTC (tBTC) and Stacks (sBTC) launch in the upcoming weeks. I think xBTC is imminent, which is OKX's variant. fBTC coming soon as well, but I know nothing about them.

Sui should solidify its self as the hub for putting your BTC to work, and giving your a plethora of options and risk models to work with. The only BTC derivative that I don't expect to see on Sui is Coinbase's cbBTC, they also want a piece of the BTC pie on Base.

Bitcoin Vegas 2025 happening later this month should have some content around BTCfi on Sui pop up. Trying my best to make it out there for that week.

Thank you for your input. Would love to see your explanation on Ika once it comes out.
Bitcoin staking?

So basically the evolution of HYIP platforms?

Staking is simply the mechanism that locks the BTC up on the Bitcoin network and allows it to be reissued on other networks safely. The yield stems from lending or LPing and generally doesn't get higher than about 3-7%.

Nothing high yield about it and you know exactly where your yield is coming from.
I'll definitely will be looking into it. Looks promising!
What's the APY now e.g on Binance? KuCoin? Kraken? Coinbase? Etc

Close to 0. I remember Kraken offered a 0.25% APY on a system they designed. Not worth it
