Guide to Setting Up an Anonymous Telegram Account on Desktop

Telegram no longer allows account registration via the desktop app. This guide walks you through creating an anonymous Telegram account on your desktop using Bluestacks, Orbot, and an optional step using Whonix.

Steps:

1. Download and Install Bluestacks with a VPN
Use a VPN to download Bluestacks from its official website, and keep the VPN enabled during installation—Bluestacks downloads core files during the install process.

2. Download Telegram and Orbot APKs
Go to a trusted APK mirror site to download recent versions of the Telegram and Orbot APK files. Avoid downloading these via Google Play Store in Bluestacks, as it requires logging into a Google account, which compromises your anonymity.

3. Enable a System-wide VPN on Your Desktop
Activate your VPN at the host OS level—not inside Bluestacks. Avoid attempting to set up system-wide Tor routing at this point. Bluestacks is unlikely to work well with it and it may lead to IP or DNS leaks. The desktop VPN serves as a fallback privacy layer.

4. Launch Bluestacks

5. Install the APKs
Drag and drop the Telegram and Orbot APK files into the Bluestacks window to install them.

6. Start Orbot's VPN
Open Orbot within Bluestacks and press “Start VPN.”

7. Verify Tor Connectivity
Open Chrome or any browser inside Bluestacks and visit:
https://check.torproject.org You should see a message confirming you're connected to the Tor network. Ignore any warnings about not using the official Tor Browser.

8. Create a Telegram Account
Launch Telegram in Bluestacks and start the registration process. You’ll be prompted to enter a phone number.

9. Use a PVA (Phone Verification as a Service)
Visit a reputable PVA provider to rent a temporary phone number. Here are a few examples:

Tips:
- Numbers from popular countries like the US or UK are likely already linked to existing Telegram accounts.
- Try numbers from less common countries.
- Avoid clearly labeled virtual numbers.
- Higher-priced numbers tend to have a better success rate.
- You will likely have to try several phone numbers before one works.

10. Use Telegram in Bluestacks
Once your account is created, you can continue using Telegram within Bluestacks with both VPN and Orbot active.

Optional: Upgrade to a More Permanent Anonymous Setup

11. Download and Install Whonix
Whonix is a security-focused Linux distribution that routes all internet traffic through Tor.

12. Install Telegram on Whonix Workstation
Inside the Whonix Workstation, download and install the Telegram desktop app.

13. Log In Using the Same Phone Number
Log into Telegram on the Whonix Workstation using the same phone number you used in Bluestacks. When prompted, use the Telegram app inside Bluestacks to approve and link the new session. This links your Whonix Telegram instance to the existing account in Bluestacks. Once it's linked, you can use Telegram from Whonix for daily activity—only returning to Bluestacks if Telegram requires re-verification or manual approval of new sessions in the future.
thank u cuhh
Nice guide, pretty much lines up with what worked for me. I'd also throw in wantsms as another place to check for verification numbers if the other sites are out or the numbers keep failing.
Nice guide sir

Thank you saar. Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore. These days I just buy a telegram account for $1 from accsmarket.com using crypto inside Whonix.
