Solo BTC Miner Jackpot Block 903883

https://blockstream.info/block/000000000...dc5255115c

It's being reported that this was a solo miner solved block.

Pretty cool to hit that lottery.
Madness, probably some russian dude who hasn't left their house in years. But still I could only imagine the odds of that happening is insanely slim

Wait, so how much would they have made on the mine?

3.125 BTC is the mining award per block.
0.04763363 BTC or $5k in fees too..

Overall miner earned about $350k.

I'd love to see the setup used by the person who solved that block.

Holy shit.

That is a serious jackpot.

I bet they are throwing a party tonight.
that is like winning the lottery, lucky dood.
back in the day, almost everyone was solo mining and getting rewards for 50 btc tho on Pentiums.
wish it was still like that today.
it should not be a lottery to mine on your own, most solo mining lose money, that is extremely rare.

fuck asics and pools.
They're using solo miners worth $800-1300 and hoping for a jackpot. The higher the BTC price goes = the higher the hashrate = the higher the difficulty. I think in the past months there are less and less solo miners hitting a jackpot. In the near future it'll be like one block per 6 months.

That's like hitting a Jackpot. Wonder how much time and money he had invested for this.

A solo miner can range from a small device, to a few ASIC miners pointed at one address and solo mine with that address.

Exactly. That's why it's intriguing to know his setup..

I thought about buying around 10 of these solo miners, not asics but something that has enough hash power until the next halving, to possibly hit a block. All 10 miners spread across 10 different solo pools. Because in reality with such a small solo miner, you will hit a block only by luck not by hash power, so it's better to put these 10 towards 10 separate wallets rather than mining on one. But then again, they spend around $50-100 per month in electricity and it's purely a gamble to be honest. The next halving is 3 years away, still a chance that you hit a block.

10 x $100 = $1000 per month x 36 = $36,000 in electricity with a very small chance of hitting a block.

If you'd invest in the midterm year those $36,000 in BTC and ride it until 2029 (1 year post halving) I think you're looking at better investment strategy this way, where the gamble is purely close to zero.

Do they have these for DOGE or LTC coin? I might just try to mine with my AMD Radeon HD 7950 again if I can hit some fucking lottery!!!!!

Quote:Litecoin block reward information:
Current block reward: The reward for successfully mining a Litecoin block is currently 6.25 LTC.
Halving events: Litecoin undergoes a halving event approximately every four years (or every 840,000 blocks), which reduces the block reward by half.
Halving history:
Initially, the block reward was 50 LTC.
The first halving occurred on August 25, 2015, reducing the reward to 25 LTC.
The second halving occurred on August 5, 2019, reducing the reward to 12.5 LTC.
The third halving occurred on August 2, 2023, setting the current reward at 6.25 LTC.
Next halving: The next Litecoin halving is expected around July 27, 2027, and will further reduce the block reward to 3.125 LTC.
In summary: While the AMD Radeon HD 7950 can be used to mine Litecoin, the amount of LTC you would potentially earn for finding a block is currently 6.25 LTC, regardless of the specific hardware used. The frequency of finding a block, however, would be influenced by the card's hashing power and whether you mine solo or as part of a pool.
