Well the Thread Headline pretty much explains this, i would love to know your opinion!
Mine is that people have talents, everyone has atleast 1 thing they are really good at, everyone is smart in their own way but the real inteligence factor is something people can learn or when they are actually born with it, can forget, there are so many factors influencing this, for example social media destroys our memory and dopamine, we forget stuff much faster and get addicted to doomscrolling... but i think both, people can be born with it and just loose this because they dont train it
and most people need to work for it, putting in the grind to finally achieve that thing they always wanted. ✌
With that, i hope you all achieve what you truly want. ✌

It's a bit of both I think too. I mean, you can "study" for an IQ test too, but in the end it will always be somewhere in the range that you were born with.

Intelligence is a natural thing to the true genius. They are not to be confused with someone who learns a new thing and can talk about it. These people are sponges naturally and they grasp things in a different way than your average person. When you come across a truly intelligent person it will be obvious immediately.
"Clarity is the counterbalance of profound thoughts."
Great take, I agree intelligence is a mix of both. Some are born with natural talents, like a knack for math or music, but environment and effort shape how those gifts develop or fade.
The idea of being "born smart" touches on the role of genetics in intelligence, and there is some truth to it—our biology can influence how easily we pick up certain skills, process information, or think critically. Some people may have a natural aptitude for things like language, math, or memory from an early age. However, raw potential alone doesn’t guarantee success or deep intelligence. A person born with high potential but without the right environment, stimulation, or support may not reach their full intellectual capabilities.
More often, people become smart through effort, curiosity, and experience. Intelligence grows with learning, mistakes, persistence, and real-world application. Reading widely, solving problems, staying curious, and being open to new ideas are all ways people sharpen their thinking. The most successful or “smart” individuals are usually those who keep learning and adapting, not just those who showed early promise. In that sense, becoming smart is much more about mindset and dedication than natural talent alone.
That said, intelligence doesn’t always equal common sense, and I’ve noticed that a lot of people seem to lack it. Common sense is more about practical judgment and making sound decisions in everyday situations—it’s the kind of wisdom that often comes from paying attention, thinking things through, and learning from experience. You don’t need a high IQ to have common sense, but in today’s world, where people are often distracted or overly dependent on technology, basic awareness and good judgment seem to be less common. It’s frustrating to see people overlook simple solutions or act carelessly when a little thought would go a long way.

No, I don't think anyone is born smart but they over time learn to be smart but that depends on what country they're born in and what type of family they are born in and then there's talents that you're born with that gives you an edge over other people. The rest is learning. What I mean by talents is mostly the brain you're given with where you might obsessed with crunching numbers. So, if you like doing math at the start of life that influences you to be smart where you will be good at math and science. Some are not smart in that way or born with those traits but they might get obsessed with sports where they have more focus on learning the sport and game and not just training but building up your body. Eventually those people end up working for professional teams.
However, again it depends on what kind of family you're born into and if they got connections. You can be good at a sport and have that focus but if you have no connections that can get you in or guide you then you won't be working for professional teams. You will have to find something else and just work to get by.
I feel like it's overtime, but a lot is coded in your DNA the moment of conception.
Personally I think people have to study/train to become smarter. I do believe some people could possibly be born smart though.
its a little bit of both, while IQ is primarily inherited you can learn skills and improve to be the best of yourself, maybe your bloodline is not top notch and your family has a lot of fools, but strive to be better

yess i think so too, you can with hard work really accomplish many things, but it will be almost impossible beating the people who have natural talent in these topics, which i am pretty sure exists in our DNA and is something we cant change

I mean, growing up with smart and intelligent people does help.
I think schools are getting a little better at teaching these days, honestly. When I was in school, half of the stuff they made us learn wasn't correct and this was down to lack of funding. Granted, this was a very long time ago, and it has all changed a lot since. Another thing is AI. AI has become a great source of a lot of information for teachers and students, and it has allowed a lot more of a direct form of information for everyone around the world.
Honestly its both, you can be pretty dumb but willing to learn, and not learn all that quick barring straight up disabilities, but honestly i'd rather be straight up retarded then be someone whos smart and educated and be up my own ass about it, those mother fuckers need to stop stealing oxygen
I think nowadays is the emotional intelligence that's missing 🙄😆
Everyone has a potential limit to smartness/intelligence when they're born. You cannot change that. That's genetic.
Then your environment dictates how much of that potential you achieve in your childhood. Once you develop into an adult then your smartness/intelligence doesn't increase very much. Apart from your wisdom and crystallized IQ (look up) which you can gain over the period of your life.
