I really miss the early internet back in the late 90s/2000s. I first got online in the year of the bug (Y2K) and i miss everything about the internet in them times
I miss chatting in AOL/AIM and IRC and the feel of the internet. I think after 2015-2016 the internet changed a lot and it wasnt for the good
I would bring back just the older platforms and forums. I would rather have those than discord
Rep me for rep back and quick love for a qucik love back
Not really , too damn slow

I think someone was making a relaunch of it but it never got any hype.

Yeah relaunches dont usually do good for stuff like this
the new generations doesnt care about instant messengers like these. they rather use discord and stuff. its only the "older" demographic that would use it and like it for nostalgia reasons

Honestly - no.
Its so much easier to find stuff now, especially with AI. No more digging around in 10000s of random websites. Shit is so much eaiser now
I do not really miss the old internet.
It was slow and messy and I prefer today's efficiency.

I feel the same way. I really miss the days when my friends and I would chat for hours on Gadu-Gadu (an instant messenger, similar to AOL). I don't know why, but back then everything seemed better, and the future looked brighter. The internet itself was also a different place. To me, it was more like a “wild jungle” 😇

I do for sure, it was a special feeling going online and the internet was like the wild west and split out (not centralized to a few big websites like nowadays). It was full of soul and I really enjoyed the vibe, even though it was slowed I was still using it with awe.

Yeah i mean thats the only positive within the last years is AI but i have a love hate relationship with it
like i love it since its convenient for researching topics and all that.... but it feels like within the next 5-10 years the internet is gonna be taken over by it
Idk man its getting scary with the new AI video content too like the new sora stuff almost looks real... and AI has only really been accessible for 2-3 years.. so imagine in the next 5 to 10 years

The chat rooms were all a LOT more fun than boring old discord. You could select a chat room on every topic instead of having to be formally invited to a discord server and then people just talk about what they want and ignore and don't answer each other. And we had real forums instead of reddit and you could find people talking about what you want and now threads are locked down and you can't get the same kinds of info.
I don't think "grave digging" a thread like this is always bad. Otherwise why would we even see those options of similar threads down the bottom.
I miss not just having two or three places that have everything. I miss the old west of the internet
