"If you could instantly become an expert in one skill or field that would help solve a major global issue (e.g., climate change, poverty, healthcare), what would you choose, and how would you use that expertise to make an impact?"

Poverty. I think a lot of world's problem can be solved if we just eradicate poverty and start giving or making sure everyone gets enough money.
When everyone can have money. They can spend on their healthcare, education, security and technology.

Yes, true. Well, my thought was along the lines of what an individual could do on a personal level, what kind of skill could aid in solving something major across the world. Not that one drop counts, but collectively it adds up.

I think if everyone has enough money in the first place to feed themselves and not worry about working as a child to provide for family. People can then choose to stay in school and complete education. That itself will open up enough doors and mind to get into a skill program.
But if started your life earning peanuts as a child to provide for your family. You will end up as a poor man.
Often we try to think that maybe if we can provide an infrastructure or teach a person how to fish. While all that is good. We forget that for poor people the first and foremost problem lies in the basics. The food, water, security and clothing. All that before anything else.
But if we can somehow create a system in world where every poor person can get something each month in terms of money. They can buy themselves those basics or if there's a problem in their life, they can solve it - after all the person with the problem knows what's the problem in their life. Better than anybody else.

So, like a UBI, what are your thoughts on it? I agree with each of the points you made, if collectively the society would have done this, instead of segregating each other by countries and borders, humanity would have gone down a different path.

UBI is for everyone. But I'd have a supplementary fixed income for everyone who's working. Nature of work can be anything from freelance to Parttime to fulltime.
If you're working. You get a fixed income alongside from government each month. No strings attached as long as it showed in the last 1 year that you are working or actively working.
For anybody who's not working. We of course need to find a reason. Either they're fulltime students or disabled completely. For which there must be and are other programs to take care of it in a more known welfare style of giving.

Very interesting. I love the concept behind it :) Thank you for sharing your lovely thoughts.
