I thought of making this thread since i have a hard drive that was 15 years old and it seems to have died on me recently (which is expected for how old it is)
whats your oldest hard drive that is still running? if you could share hours that would be great. think mine had 70k-80k hours in it

I've got one from like 2002 maybe 2001 that I can still hook up to my adapter and use. I don't know why I haven't gotten rid of it, I copied all the data off it a long time ago.
I have a giant stack of old hard drives, I need to go through. God only knows what type of shit I'll find, with my luck I'm sure nothing of value or importance.
I don't use old hard drives because of the reliability, the oldest currently running is probably 5 years, but I have a bunch of hard drive I need to check, some of them are from the early 00s, crazy
I've got a couple of them lying around that hopefully still works. Oldest is one from around 2010.

My oldest drive is from 2015 (last touched). I am holding it it but I think its just movies like Tropic Thunder and Semi-Pro
I have about 5 old hard drives some from the 90s. I still need to throw out but worried how to dispose it properly to not leak any info because they have my parent's tax records on them.
I also got those new hard drives Seagate exos 24 tb drives enterprise grade with helium sealed drives.
I have one from 15 years. But it's not actively in use (it works) because it's like 250GB.
Fun fact. I have another SSD that's active that actually once belonged to US CIA - Classified. I got it from a friend - don't know how he got it.

Do you data hoard or what are you storing on those drives
looking to make a NAS and start hoarding soon. a lot of media/websites is being censored and seems to be going away so i want to start preserving the stuff i like

If you have a few you dont need anymore and that work share with me lmao, I am in a big need of harddrives currently xD
For the thread, my oldest is about 9 years old, not too much looking at the numbers here but I love it, still running on this pc.
The risk of not taking risk is riskier than comfort.
Never Deal Off-Site!
I have a couple that are lingering around since around 2012-2014. They still run if I spin them up. Not really sure why I still have them though lol
