My son called child services because wife said he couldnt trick or treat with his gf

My son is 11 and has been getting bad grades this year, so my wife refused to let him go trick or treating this Halloween and in turn he called CPS on us and ran away when they did not come quick enough. The police returned him and going through his phone it appears his intention was to get his parents locked up. He has never done anything remotely like this. I am guessing he may need some counseling going forward.

Wow that really sucks. Sorry that he is behaving like that. Halloween hasn't even happened. It's a pretty harsh punishment though. But now he's behaved even worse. You went through his phone?
Some counseling going forward may be a great idea but I think it might be worth having a sit down with them to see what has been going on in there head to try and understand why they are behaving like they are. This could then allow you to find a possible cause for his actions and make room to improve on what has them acting this way. It can also help you bond with your child and allow you to have a stronger and heathier relationship with your son.

That sounds like a really stressful situation for everyone involved. It’s definitely unusual behavior for an 11 year old, and seeking counseling sounds like a good idea. Both to understand what triggered this and to help him process his feelings in a safe way. Hopefully, with guidance, he can learn better ways to handle frustration or disappointment.

Have things improved with your son's behavior since your wrote this post? If you're saying this is out of character from him, he may be being influecned by other kids online, or at school to behave in such a manner.

I have heard stories of this happening with friends' kids. A lot of people waste CPS time- all the time- it's really terrible.

Don't ring child protective services over stupid shit. If you do you could have blood on your hands from flooding the system with garbage so that they don't get to the severe cases.
Definitely time for counseling

Agreed. I won't be shocked if some kind of influence was involved.

Come to think of it this whole thing reminds me of that one episode of South Park where all the kids called the cops on their parents and falsely accusing them (not to say this was the case).

Hopefully things turn in your favor and he learns a heavy but valuable lesson from this.
Good evening everyone on the forum, I'm new here and I'm joining because I'd like to be able to earn money every day. Is there anyone who can help me?
