A Critical Review of Universal Basic Income as a Response to Technological Unemploym

As automation accelerates job displacement, Universal Basic Income (UBI) is often presented as the universal solution. Yet evidence from Finland’s and the U.S. Negative Income Tax experiments suggests otherwise: recipients showed minimal employment gains and reduced incentives to work. Rather than replacing welfare systems with blanket payments, the study recommends retaining targeted aid while investing in worker reskilling and R&D to adapt labor to an automated economy.

Surprising no one with any actual critical thinking skills.

I don't believe in universal basic income, but I do believe in benefits that help the people.

The world will adjust to the new realities on the ground, and in the markets.
AI will change the job landscape, and automation will continue to take jobs.

I think many people operate on the assumption that the population must always grow.
Perhaps shrinking is a natural reaction to this type of new era.
It seems to be disincentivizing work.

I do think there could be a point that UBI will be needed, but I think right now is too early.
