Anyone buying stocks this week? 1st week of November 2025

Lots of different opinions related to where we're headed.

Are any of you buying into any stocks this week?
Any tips?

I'm holding off on buys over the next few days but it'll be time for my 2-week DCA again by the end of this week.
I'll look for some solid entry points in the next few days to figure out what i want to do with part of my budget, but my 2-week DCA is obviously preset for buys
We are near the end of the year. Overall, the stock market had a strong performance this year, as institutions took profits and companies balanced their books for the end of the year, ahead of the holiday season.

Volatility is likely to decrease and may exhibit some choppy price action.

Eh, I don't know how much tariffs are affecting everything. It's a concern, but the market took quite a huge hit earlier this year and some of that is baked in

Lots of the tariffs have been shot down as illegal too

They are going to Supreme Court tomorrow because all of the other courts ruled a bunch of them illegal (not all, but many of the big blanket tariffs).
Now we will wait & respect SCOTUS decision

If IEEPA authorizes tariffs, then Trump & all future Presidents can declare an emergency and implement blanket tariffs without congress.

I hope that SCOTUS foresees this as negative and shuts it down. Regardless of politics, no President from any party should be able to declare an emergency and implement such broad tariffs.

Tariffs are great for when we have existing industry. they don't work well when an entire nation is tariffed at a high % and we still rely on their imports... That's just a higher cost for Americans.

Fingers crossed. CURRENTLY there is nothing to say that the worst tariffs are legal. That's why they're appealing to SCOTUS and starting that case tomorrow, so either SCOTUS can confirm the prior rulings that many are illegal, or they can overturn those rulings and make it legal for all future Presidents.

We'll see!

TLDR:

Don't blame anything. Don't blame Trump, or tariffs.

You can make money regardless of the President, don't use it as an excuse to not invest. I made a ton of money under him last time, and I am making a fuckload more money this year than that time.

I hate Trump, but as far as I'm concerned, this is one of the best financial years in my family's life for investments so far.

I despise what's happening, BUT this is what was voted for:
Extract value.

I'm extracting value, but wish we could have a more stable system. I just refuse to let any politics prevent me from making money and being happy.
It's a shame how many won't have that opportunity though.

Appreciate the insight! I didn’t realize some of those tariffs were ruled illegal already. Good to know it’s not all doom and gloom. Thanks for breaking it down — makes a lot more sense now for a complete noob like me.

Yeah, there are a lot of tariffs that are LEGAL, but there are also a good few that are ILLEGAL.

Now, it could be "legal" if SCOTUS rules that way... we'll find out soon.

The main thing being debated is whether "IEEPA" law gives any President the right to implement tariffs.

The IEEPA just hasn't been "tested" like this yet, so that's why we don't really have an answer.
Other laws like TWEA do allow for tariffs, but since Trump is claiming IEEPA gives him this authority, that's why it's kicked up to SCOTUS to rule on it (he appealed the lower courts basically).
I think the government opening back up is going to bullish for the market. I think once data (employment numbers, exports, etc) starts flowing again though, the market is going to look kind of weak. So I'm imaging a rally, followed by drop, which then causes a mini rally when interest rates are cut in December.

I heard this thesis on unemployment numbers being bullish for tech. Idea being that a lot of companies are laying off, or not hiring, because they're waiting to see if their investments in AI pay off.

Hopefully we do see this. I don't know if the markets are 100% tied to reality lol, or investors priced in the shutdown / eventual relief already. I personally wasn't affected by the shutdown, almost at all, or not at all. It's very possible many investors didn't care to begin with.

Without turning this into a political debate, I supported the shutdown, I think it was a positive aspect of our democracy to prevent further damage. I also equally support the shutdown ending, with a few key votes to restart the gov. I think it's good we're back, but it was also good we were shutdown. There has to be a balance, and recognition that when things are not okay, we don't have to support them.
