Father who deliberately left his 2 yr old in a car so he could watch porn has KHS.

Christopher Scholtes, 38, who admitted that he left his two year old alone for over three hours in a hot car in the Arizona heat of summer, so that he could watch porn has killed himself.

The man had a wealthy wife who was an anesthesiologist and she only asked that he be a stay at home dad to their four daughters while she financially supported the family.

Scholtes initially lied to police that it was a case of the established medical condition of "forgotten baby syndrome," but the police investigation uncovered that while Scholtes was a stay-at-home dad that a number of the neighbours said that they had been on frequent search parties to find his four girls after he had been supposed to be looking after them but had lost them multiple times.

The police also found texts from his wife on his phone from over the preceding years where she was yelling at him in caps lock for driving drunk and speeding up to 130 with the little girls in the car.

His wife also lied to police that he had never done this before. But when the police took his smart phone they found many texts from her telling him to stop leaving the kids in the car. In the past he had left all his children ages five to two in the car in the garage over 50 times so he could watch porn and play video games without being interrupted.

This time however he'd bought himself a fancy exercise bike that he was keeping in the garage so he left her in the car outside in the Arizona heat with the air-conditioning on while the older girls were out with their grandma. He knew however that the air-conditioning would turn itself off after 20 minutes.

Police tracked down his movements where Christopher Scholtes [married to a wealthy anesthesiologist ] went and shoplifted beer while leaving his two year alone n the car. Then came home and since she was asleep he left her and his online activity showed him watching porn, shopping online for designer menswear and playing video games.

I guess money talks because somehow he was allowed to stay out of prison on bail after killing his daughter and his wife got permission from the juidge to take a family holiday with wife and three other little girls to Haikai. He came home in time for the court date but when he didn't show up to court he was found to have killed himself. Police have refused to reveal the manner of death.

This is just heartbreaking on every level. It’s hard to wrap your head around how much negligence and denial it took for things to reach this point. The real tragedy is what those kids went through, and that it took this long for someone to step in.

It's actually amazing that with all the stuff he did nothing this bad happened earlier. The parents had endless luck. When you look into it this paticular guy was a complete psychopath who somehow conned a wealthy, attractive doctor into letting him do whatever he wanted supposed because she was supporting him to be a stay at home dad but he was nothing but abusive and his older daughter from a previous relationship is trying to sue the estate because of the abuse she suffered at his hands. I doubt she will get anywhere suing his wealthy wife though. It seems that money talks and his wife was able to help him get away with a lot. He shouldn't have been out on bail to go kill himself. If he'd been smarter he could have flown to a non extradition country instead of killing himself. Doh!

Yeah, it’s unbelievable how long this went unchecked. The whole thing feels like a failure on every level.. Family, justice, and basic accountability. Those kids deserved better protection long before it reached this point.

I'm pretty sure it was the wife's money and prestige. She paid people off, or people didn't want her mad at them. 🙄 I don't get it. She was pretty good looking and he was barely good looking. Probably was better looking before years of drinking I suppose. The pair have two other children who told police their father left all three siblings alone in the car on a regular basis. I'm going to put a true crime video about this in the movies and videos forum because seeing this guy on bodycam is unreal. He only gets upset each time there is a hint he might be charged.

I haven’t seen the video yet, but just reading about it is enough to make your stomach turn. The lack of accountability is shocking, it really feels like money and connections kept him out of trouble far longer than he deserved.
I wonder if the wife actually poisoned him or killed him somehow over the death of their daughter. Honestly all around this is just bonkers.

His wealthy wife got the judge to agree to let the family have a vacation in Haiwai after he left the baby to die in the sun so he could watch porn. She was telling him she loved him and asking police to let her kiss him goodbye and asked the judge to let them all go on a vacation to Haiwai together before he had to go to prison. And they did go! And then they came back and he killed himself on the day he was supposed to be sentenced after pleading guilty so I don't think so.

Ah that would make sense then, he likely wanted to avoid imprisonment and decided to nix himself, I must've not paid enough attention to the material. Thanks for the clarification

His wife sucks. She knew he'd driven drunk with the kids in the car. Sped to 130 with the kids in the car and left the kids alone in the car FIFTY times and she just kept telling him, "Don't do that again." But let him be stay at home dad even though it was so obvious that he was going to keep leaving the kids in the hot car because he didn't want to care for them. Police found the evidence on his phone.
