MKVCinemas arrested due to Njalla providing customers purchase information

Njal.la has been brought up here on HF multiple times before about

Is this a trusted domain provider / This is a bad domain provider

I was just reading this article on Torrentfreak -> https://torrentfreak.com/ace-anti-piracy...wn-251212/

I saw this line

Quote:Njalla, the privacy-focused registrar founded by The Pirate Bay’s Peter Sunde, Ravi reportedly provided his real personal details and paid using a personal debit card.

For those who haven't heard about MKVCinema

Quote:“Collectively, the MKVCinemas domains accounted for 142.4 million global visits between 2024 and 2025. The piracy tool received 231.4 million visits in the same time period,”

I know "use fake name, use crypto", but that would also work on any registar, reason you use Njalla is so they register domain in their name, being a safe guard to you

Yet they provide the information if asked to
To be fair they say they are privacy focused, not 'your partner in crime' focused.

If you have a perfectly legal domain and usage then you'd be fine to use your real name and bank details.

You gotta be pretty stupid to not use a fake name and details and XMR funding and then use the domain to host a major piracy website. Especially if they are charging you $15, why on earth would somebody else face the legal repercussions of your actions for $15 a year? 🤣
