Hi everyone,
I’d like to ask about the recent Ubisoft incident involving Rainbow Six Siege X. In late December 2025, Ubisoft had to shut down the game’s servers after a hack allowed players to receive huge amounts of R6 Credits for free. Some accounts were even banned in the process, and Ubisoft later rolled back server activity to contain the damage. They eventually reactivated servers, but the case raised questions about backend vulnerabilities in large-scale online games.
My question is: from a cybersecurity perspective, what kind of exploit could lead to this type of mass currency injection? And what defensive measures should companies like Ubisoft implement to prevent similar breaches in live-service environments?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
