If Amazon hadn't wildly overestimated how popular it might be and hadn't erroneously and stupidly believed people would PAY to "hate watch," it did well in the South among conservative women. Theatres were packed with conservative women in red southern states it flopped in the north. In the South in red states it was the biggest non music documentary opening in a decade and outperformed opening night expectations.

But it was a flop in terms of how much Amazon spent to acquire it for distribution and a flop in terms of critical reviews which were overwhelmingly very very bad. It's apparently according to overwhelming number of reviews a fluff propaganda piece with no grit or interesting documentary type content and scored 7% on Rotten Tomatoes. I wonder if that's the truth since I have not seen it.

But it terms of what Amazon invested in it yes it's still a disaster though it did better on opening nights than most sources predicted it would.
