Got a warning from IT that didnt make sense

Got a warning from IT that didn’t make sense
Got an email from IT earlier saying my account triggered a “non-critical security alert.” No details, just that everything was resolved and no action was needed from me.

What’s weird is I hadn’t logged into anything unusual, hadn’t tried anything new, and my activity’s been pretty normal lately. I replied asking what caused it and they just said it was “automated” and closed the ticket.

Probably nothing, but now I’m stuck wondering what exactly set it off in the first place. Anyone else ever get one of those vague warnings and never find out what happened?

We don't know what IT you are talking about? Is it a scary dancing clown? What IT is IT? We don't know.

He appears to think we know what's going on at his work place. This doesn't seem like it is going to go down a good path. We sympathise with mental issues, but HF is not the place to do with serious ones and have them get worse from being her and thinking about hacking.

My sister in law thinks hackers are always getting info from her phone and Facebook and giving it to her neighbours and the sad part of that is it means she can't keep in touch and she's the NICE sister in law of the two. ☹️ Some schizos are great people in between episodes. 🙁

The point is that we have no idea what IT department he is on about, so the whole thread makes no darn sense. No way to answer his questions about his workplace.
It could have just been services that may have went down and you are on the email chain for whatever reason. I get emails like that from work all the time. Working in IT emails get flooded with these things all the time.

Since they said "no action needed," you're probably fine. But for your own peace of mind maybe you need to.......

1. Check Your Own Logs, dude. Maybe look at the login history for your key accounts (Like check your Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, VPN, etc.). Look for anything you don't recognize.
2. Review MFA Prompts: Think back. Did you recently get an MFA prompt on your phone that seemed like kind of a bit random? That was maybe the "resolution" part of the alert.
3. Assume Your Security Hygiene is Being Tested: This is a good reminder to ensure you're using strong, unique passwords and that MFA is enabled everywhere possible, bro. The system is doing its job.

In short, you were likely the victim of a hyper-sensitive, automated system doing exactly what it was designed to do: detect a minor statistical deviation and automatically verify it was you.
Did you try to charge your phone in the USB port?

What actions did you take?
