This news can be fully confirmed with Claude itself, but here's an article, just in case.
Hey guys, lately I've been using Claude for some interesting conversations, to learn about certain topics, or for a little discussion, and just a few minutes ago I watched a video saying that the U.S. government just ordered Anthropic to suspend access to its most advanced models for anyone who isn't an American citizen.
We're talking about the Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models. But apparently this order wasn't the most planned or coordinated, since it seems that access to these models ended up being suspended for all types of users, as there was no reliable way to determine who was or wasn't an American citizen, whether inside or outside the United States.
What do you guys think? Too extreme? Illogical? A fair measure? Something necessary?
Personally, I find it a little strange, because sometimes you hear political commentators or certain people say "The U.S. government is the most advanced and powerful in the world," yet at the same time, it seems like there are never strong or precise enough measures against any given foreigner, whoever they may be.
