What's the biggest trauma a movie or TV show ever gave you?

Hey everyone! Hope you're all doing well. I'm curious to hear if any of you have an interesting story related to this.

I'm guessing a lot of the answers will involve horror movies, but it's interesting how fears—or even something close to a lasting trauma—can also come from documentaries, TV shows, regular movies, or even old home videos.

Personally, when I was around seven years old, watching the first or second Chucky movie really messed me up. The scene that got me the most was the one where he melts and ends up mixed with molten plastic or something like that. Ironically, not long after that, Chucky became one of my favorite horror franchises. It still gives me the occasional chill, but I can clearly remember having nightmares about his melted face. That image stuck with me for a long time and genuinely scared me as a kid.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Do you have a scary story involving a classic horror character? Or maybe a movie or TV show that wasn't even horror but still left a lasting impression on you—or maybe even something you're still a little afraid of today?

I'd love to hear your stories.

SAW and Final Destination got me fricked up. So brutal.

For me, it has to be A Serbian Movie. Unsure why the fuck I even watched it to begin with, but nothing seems too bad compared to that.

I heard it's absolutely awful. Honestly, I've never seen it, and I don't really have any interest in watching it. From what I've heard, it leans more toward gore and really disturbing content, and apparently the creators went out of their way to make everything look extremely realistic.

Damn, I still remember when a scene of a guy getting crushed by a giant sheet of tempered glass became really popular around here, and also that scene where a truck drops a bunch of logs onto the highway. That was absolutely terrifying.

Honestly, I haven't heard of that movie, but if you're saying there's a bathroom involved, I think I can already imagine where that's going. Damn, that's messed up.

Go in blind - don't do any research, enjoy the 4:3.

When I first read the title I was thinking more of Bojack Horseman's grandma being given a lobotomy. And what little Beatrice Horseman went through.

But as for horror. You guys probably think those Omen films were nothing but I almost never watched horror, so when I was a kid that second omen movie where the elevator drops and Dr. Kane is killed by an elevator cable that cuts through the elevator car and the car itself and him... helped me to skip the elevator and climb the stairs for exercise and weight loss. Damien burning his step aunt alive by making a boiler explode with his mind also terrified me for a long time and made me afraid of fire. To be honest I was like 13/14 when I watched those. But hey I'm a girl who didn't watch horror usually.
For me the trunk scene in GoodFellas when I was a little kid. That shit was so realistic and horrifying, more scary than horror imo
