I'm literally buying a PS5 just for GTA 6

Sold my PlayStation several years ago because I got bored gaming all the time and found new hobbies. But honestly, I'm really convinced that I'm gonna buy a new console as soon as GTA 6 releases. It'll have been 5 years since I've touched a remote... and honestly?... Feeling pretty excited!

What are the chances anyone else here is in the same boat? I've been talking about the release for a few months with my GF and we're both down. And after spending some time catching up with the gaming communities and watching videos, I'm more ready than ever. I was a big COD fan and when GTA 5 released I was totally addicted.

I can't wait to see all the streams, videos and discussions around GTA 6 😎
I've never been able to complete a GTA game. Always get too distracted. I've had them all dating back to the first Grand Theft Auto that was from helicopter view. I don't think I'll be getting this one.

I am a fan of Rockstar and the fact that they aren't like other game makers who push out a new game every 6 months and ditch the last.

Yeah i'm getting it on xbox and my friend was thinking of getting a playstation. The thing is i don't know if it will be cross play or not. I told him get it on xbox! otherwise, we will never be able to play. I really hope it's crossplay!!

I've been saying to myself ill definitely buy a ps5 and gta6 whrn it comes out
but honestly I'm not sure now i prefer to spend my time working and focusing on my career rather than wasting it on a game although im a big fan but this is life.

The only thing I worry about is taking time away from work. I love working, and when I'm not working I'm working. But the thing is if you don't force yourself to take a break you'll get stuck in that cycle. I'd be happy if I could spend 2-3 hours an evening but we all know how that goes! 😛

It's so awesome that they can just keep updating the game world. Pretty amazing that GTA 5 has been live for so long and hasn't seemed to skip a beat. Remember San Andreas? Man! What a blast it was hopping in tanks and raw dogging 5-star forces.
Honestly, you’re definitely not the only one doing that. The hype for GTA 6 is on another level, and it’s going to drive massive console sales when it drops. I just hope the optimization on the standard PS5 is solid and handles the scaling properly without needing a Pro model to get a stable framerate. It's going to be a historic release for sure.
I can understand why people would want to buy a console based on GTA 6. It's one of the few games I would actually buy one for. Over the years, I've gradually moved away from playing video games. Grand Theft Auto V has caught my attention. There's something about the open-world setting that makes it special.
I'm going to skip GTA 6 and wait for the 7th game.
You and many other people. I have multiple friends that are doing the same and I've seen loads of people around various parts of the internet say it too. This plan of getting a console solely to be able to play GTA 6 day 1 is quite widespread. I don't think it's much of a shock to anyone either honestly. If any game was going to be able to have such an impact, it's this. The amount of anticipation behind it and from more people than I've ever seen have for a game is bonkers.

I am hyped to see videos about the game but i probably wont buy it just yet, probably a year after release i will take the investment ^^
but i am sure youre not the only one buying a console just for the game, i would recommend doing it a bit before the actual release because i would assume alot of people do the same you want to :)
The risk of not taking risk is riskier than comfort.

It's possible that it isn't a day 1 pickup for me either. I do already have consoles to play it on and so no issue there, but I haven't been into GTA in a long time. I never even played 5 lol. I did love all of the ones prior though. I think it's mainly going to come down to if I'm really into any other games at the time. If so then I'll honestly have no problem waiting a bit to pick it up. If I'm not much into any games at the time though then I don't see why I wouldn't grab it on release. Either way I'll end up with it at some point and I have no doubt in my mind that I'll thoroughly enjoy it.

I can't justify buying a console for a 30 FPS locked title. Because GTA 6 is heavily CPU-bound due to advanced simulation engines, even a $700 PS5 Pro won't run it at 60 FPS. Dropping that kind of cash on hardware that is instantly bottlenecked by low visual fluidity and sluggish frame delivery just isn't worth it.

It's definitely unfortunate that it's only 30 FPS, but hopefully they're able to introduce some sort of a performance mode down the line that targets closer to 60, even if just on Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro. I believe they said their team is still evaluating if such a thing would be possible. Either way though I don't personally feel GTA is the kind of game that is heavily held back or generally just negatively effected a ton by having a lower FPS. Considering the pace of how GTA games play, it shouldn't be too bad. That obviously isn't to say it wouldn't feel and play much better at a higher FPS, but I think those unhappy regarding the 30 FPS will get over it pretty quickly if the game ends up being even just a fraction as good as it's anticipated to be. All of that said, I can of course understand your stance on the whole thing.

A performance mode won't fix this. If the bottleneck is the CPU handling advanced simulation and AI, lowering the resolution does absolutely nothing to hit 60 FPS. They can’t just patch in a performance mode later if the hardware literally cannot process the game logic fast enough. 30 FPS in 2026 on a $700 console is just unacceptable, no matter how good the game is.
Im just going to steal my girls sons PS5 cause i aint buying a whole ass console. Ill wait till PC lol.
