Woman Falls 8 Feet Into Hole in Her Own Backyard — On Her Birthday
Talk about a terrible birthday surprise.
A woman in Bohemia, Long Island was walking through her own backyard on her 47th birthday when the ground suddenly gave way underneath her and she dropped about 8 feet into a hole filled with water, mud and debris.
She said it happened so quickly that she barely had time to react.
While trapped underground, Danielle Tammone said one of the thoughts going through her head was:
She tried climbing out, but the sides around her kept crumbling.
Apparently she was down there for around 30 minutes before two neighbors heard her screaming. At first they couldn't even figure out where the screaming was coming from because they weren't expecting to find someone under the ground.
They called 911 and emergency responders eventually lowered a ladder into the hole and got her out.
The weirdest ending to the whole thing is that after rescuing her, the first responders sang Happy Birthday to her.
She escaped with whiplash and pulled muscles but no major injuries.
Imagine casually walking through a backyard you've probably walked through hundreds of times and the earth just opens underneath you.
Would something like this make you paranoid about walking over old properties/backyards after seeing it? lol
