What Ever Happened to All Those Missing Scientists? Just Stopped Talking About It?

What Ever Happened to All Those Missing Scientists? Everyone Just Stopped Talking About It

Does anyone else remember when this story was everywhere a few months ago?

There were reports about a number of scientists, researchers and people connected to places like NASA/JPL, Los Alamos National Laboratory, nuclear facilities and defense-related programs who had either gone missing or died over the last few years.

It got big enough that the FBI was looking into the cases and Congress started asking questions about whether there was any connection.

Then it feels like the story just disappeared.

I haven't really seen people talking about it anymore, even though several of the actual missing-person cases still appear to be unresolved.

A few examples:

Monica Reza — JPL materials engineer who disappeared while hiking in California in June 2025. She is still listed as missing.

Steven Garcia — government contractor connected to the Kansas City National Security Campus. He disappeared from Albuquerque in August 2025 and is still officially listed as missing.

Anthony Chavez — former Los Alamos worker who disappeared in New Mexico in May 2025.

Melissa Casias — worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory and disappeared in June 2025. Her remains were finally discovered in a remote forest in May 2026. An autopsy determined that she died from a gunshot wound to the head, but investigators could not determine whether it was homicide, suicide or an accident.

What's important is that a lot of stuff posted online about this story was exaggerated. They weren't all working together, and some of the deaths included in the viral lists already have explanations.

But that still leaves a pretty simple question:

What happened to the actual investigation?

There was congressional attention, FBI involvement and national news coverage, and now months later it feels like everybody just moved on even though some people are literally still missing.

I'm not saying there's necessarily some massive conspiracy behind it. They could ultimately be unrelated cases.

I just find it strange how quickly the story vanished from the news.

Did I miss a major update somewhere? Has anyone followed this closely enough to know what happened with the FBI/Congress investigation?
