How did you learn regular expressions?
I never took the time to understand it properly.
It is so powerful and embedded so far across tech stacks. What is the best way to learn?

I've learned over a tryhackme room : https://tryhackme.com/room/catregex but I don't know if this one is part of the free or premium plan
However, to be honest, I use regex so rarely that I've forgot 90%. And when I need I go with an LLM... (shame)
EDIT : to learn and practice you can go with an LLM, you take notes, and then ask for exercices / challenges / cases.
https://regex101.com/ - then just lots, and lots. Also, lots. of reading.

Okay I will try AI. Regex is used so much in scripting, programming, operating systems.

That site doesn’t teach anything I think it’s just an application. So find a book to read?

I make extensive use of their quick refernce. I would say just find practical reasons to need to use it, then learn how you use it to solve that, and experiment.

I purchased a book from the bookstore about the commands I want to use and it explains about regular expression too.
