Something wrogn with my USBs

ok so before a week my USBs were working fine and recently something f*cked up.. i plug something in like a flash usb or similar and i hear the sound and go to my pc and i cant see it ... any ideas why ?
You might have infected the disk with Brontok or Flash drive infection...
I am with avast - cant it detect Brontok ? and how one get inefected by flash drive infection? i am pretty sure i havent put any infected flash drives in.. any idea how to fix them (cept for reinstal windows) ?
sometimes brontok updates it self... try using BitDefender for better security
I will make your boring threads interesting by replying to it
I'm pretty positive Avast! would catch Brontok...

Dunno.
I have the same problem with my USBs.im scanning my PC with BitDefender Updated 2009 but i want get the worm?????
Any other idea ??
It's probably not even a virus. USB's are hotswappable so you don't need to eject them.

Restart your machine then try again.
@ecl1ps3: its possible i had removed it unsafely couple of times .. so how do i fix it ?
Right click on my computer and go to properties, click on hardware tab and then device manager. Click on the + next to Disk Drives and see if your USB is there (while its connected) if it is then right click it and select uninstall. Then reconnect your USB and see if that works. If its not there then your USB hub drive is not working or you have a worm.

Continuing from where Maningrey left off - if your USB hub isn't working, shutdown your computer and then go to your BIOS. Look for Integrated Perisphersials.

That's where you can turn your USB hubs off and on from BIOS. It's very unlikely that he somehow managed to switch it, but I've seen a worm that does that before.
Really? I've had this head phone socket at the fount of my computer that's not been working for ages. I'm going to try that out now lol
Finally i solved this problem. You guys must install Avira Antivirus and scan the PC.It was a trojan virus that infected my system files,i removed it and now i can access my USBs.
i am glad you have sorted it out i hate Trojans they are nasty little buggers
