I d'led the latest version of cybergate from their website and my AV picked it up as a backdoor....Do I need to worry about this?

Aren't all RAT automatically detected as a trojan/backdoor?
As long as you've downloaded it from the official CG website, you shouldn't be worrying about anything.

It contains a virus as it makes them. It isn't FUD straight away. If you download from the official CyberGate website, then it doesn't.
