Every AI chat assistant is now an ad company?
by [mention=4931690]

A thread that cuts straight into the uncomfortable future: if an assistant can shape what you read, buy, and believe, it becomes one of the most valuable "ad surfaces" ever created. Replies lean into the inevitability of data-driven influence, the classic "if it's free, you're the product" line, and the privacy spiral of people oversharing with AI like it's therapy. It's the kind of discussion that makes you re-check your own boundaries with these tools.

If WW3 started tomorrow what would actually pump?
by [mention=4595369]

A blunt "markets under stress" question that instantly turned into a mix of dark humor and practical takes. People throw out everything from raw materials tied to war production, to defense names, to the usual "essentials" list (batteries, dry food). It's chaotic in the most HF way - part macro chat, part edgy one-liners - but it does surface the obvious truth: conflict reshuffles demand fast, and sentiment moves money even faster. Not financial advice, just a very real snapshot of how people think under "what if" pressure.

Hey everyone! How did you find hackforums?
by [mention=2207123]

A wholesome lounge prompt that turned into a mini oral history of HF. You get the full spectrum: friends inviting friends, people searching "hacking forums" back in the day, and the classic pipeline of "came for game hacks / drama / curiosity, stayed for IT, infosec, and community." One of those threads that quietly reminds you why forums still matter.

Small Things That Can Actually Make You Happy, But Most People Dont Notice
by [mention=2207123]

Simple prompt, surprisingly warm responses. Little wins like nostalgia hits, tiny surprises, affectionate moments, and even random animals approaching on night walks - it's the "human" side of HF that doesn't show up in the usual tech/cyber threads. Good palate cleanser if your feed's been doom-heavy lately.

So....Basically....
by [mention=1]

This one's a fun meta-spiral: language quirks ("so", "basically", "irregardless", starting with "I") as a window into how people think, speak, and self-edit - with AI as the mirror. The thread bounces between "AI can help you self-reflect" and the pushback that LLMs don't truly "learn you," while others share how they've adapted their wording just to avoid being judged for filler phrases. It's part linguistics, part psychology, part modern internet insecurity - and weirdly relatable.

Silent Heart Risk in Your 30s

Many men in their 30s feel healthy but may already have early artery changes. High stress, smoking, poor diet, and lack of exercise quietly increase blood pressure and cholesterol. These risk factors often show no symptoms until serious damage occurs. A simple blood test, blood pressure check, and regular physical activity can significantly reduce long-term heart disease risk. Prevention in your 30s is an investment in your 50s.

Advice of the week

Stop waiting to feel “ready.”
Most growth begins in discomfort, not confidence. If you wait until you feel fully prepared, you’ll wait forever.
Start before you feel ready. Learn while doing. Adjust as you go.
Progress creates confidence — not the other way around.

Quote of the week

Why Testosterone Starts to Decline After 30

After age 30, testosterone levels in men gradually decline by about 1% per year. This natural drop can affect energy, muscle mass, mood, and sexual performance. Poor sleep, stress, obesity, and lack of exercise accelerate the decline. Strength training, adequate sleep, balanced nutrition, and maintaining a healthy weight can naturally support testosterone levels. Early awareness helps prevent long-term metabolic and cardiovascular risks.

Advice of the week

Protect your focus like it’s your most valuable asset—because it is.
Distraction feels harmless in the moment, but repeated small leaks of attention drain long-term progress. Set clear priorities each day. Do the hardest task first. Limit noise—digital and social.

Fuck, Marry, Kill: HF edition
by [mention=4931690]

A classic Lounge-style chain thread that instantly turned into chaos (in the best way). [mention=4931690] kicks it off with a simple FMK format, then the replies spiral into meme-worthy one-liners, callouts, and the inevitable "rules clarification" as people keep tagging the next trio. It even mutates into a "Hack, Rob, or Kill" twist midstream, which makes the whole thing feel like a live improv game. Pure HF energy: low stakes, high banter, and surprisingly readable even if you don’t know everyone.

Whats a Random Skill Youre Surprisingly Good At?
by [mention=2207123]

A simple prompt that pulled out a bunch of unexpectedly wholesome answers. People drop everything from "reading way above average" to "reading body language," "building box forts (model kits)," storytelling photography, and even the cursed superpower of always losing at gambling. [mention=2207123] keeps the thread moving with quick reactions, so it reads like a clean scroll of personality snapshots.

Forester: Game Alpha demo - Making it with Codex for Mac (Web Based / HTML/JS)
by [mention=4931690]

A fun devlog-style share where [mention=4931690] posts a playable alpha demo and breaks down what’s already in: gathering, crafting, potions, simple combat, procedural map vibes, and planned tiers for items/abilities. The best part is the vibe—this isn’t framed as "big launch soon," it’s framed as "I'm building something my wife would love," which makes the whole thing feel genuine and creative instead of salesy. If you like small web games, crafting loops, or watching a project grow in public, this is a cool peek.

4 Years Vape Free
by [mention=5738679]

A straight-up win post, and a helpful one too. [mention=5738679] shares what actually worked over the long haul: replacing the habit (sunflower seeds / candy), breathing to replicate the "deep hit" ritual, and therapy to ride out cravings instead of fighting them blindly. Another member replies with the real struggle (quitting for months then relapsing), and the thread stays supportive instead of preachy. Short thread, but it hits - especially for anyone trying to quit and needing practical ideas, not just "be stronger."

Hi I'm new here and here is how I found you!
by [mention=5738909]

An entertaining newcomer intro that’s basically "how I fell down the rabbit hole." OP explains they were exploring local AI tools, ended up hearing about HF through that, and joined while trying to get their first posts to unlock chat. The replies are welcoming, and the thread has that classic "new member energy" where they're curious about communities, learning resources, and even experimenting with Linux in the future. It’s a good reminder that people still discover HF the old-school way: by wandering the internet looking for interesting corners to learn in.

U4N - Early Game Advantage in MLB The Show 26: A Players Guide
Posted by: SilentStorm5 - Feb 22, 2026 08:09 PM - Forum: Site News - No Replies

1. What Should I Focus on First in MLB The Show 26?

At the start of MLB The Show 26, your primary goal should be to build a solid foundation for your team. Unlike later in the game when you might have more resources and better players, in the early stages, you need to maximize your potential with limited resources.

Focus on Conquest and Missions

Conquest mode and completing missions are essential ways to earn stubs, packs, and other rewards. Conquest is particularly useful because it allows you to earn a lot of rewards while working towards your team’s improvement. Completing missions in various game modes also gives you stubs and players, which are invaluable at the start.

Tip: Don’t rush through these early tasks. Take your time and focus on completing as many missions as you can while playing through Conquest or other early-game challenges. This will pay off in the long run.

Balance Your Budget for Stubs

Stubs are your primary currency in MLB The Show 26, and managing them effectively is crucial. Don’t spend them all at once—save stubs for more impactful purchases. Early on, the best way to spend your stubs is by investing in packs and finding undervalued players in the marketplace. A well-timed purchase can help you build a more competitive team right away.

Speaking of the marketplace, you might want to take a look at the MLB 26 stubs price trends. Player prices fluctuate throughout the early stages of the game as more people get their hands on different cards. Pay attention to these fluctuations, as you might find great deals early on when prices are low.

2. How Do I Build My Team Effectively?

Building a team in the early stages of MLB The Show 26 can be tricky, especially when you don’t have the same resources as veteran players. Here are some strategies to ensure that your team is competitive from the start.

Take Advantage of Free Rewards

You’ll get free players from completing certain missions, daily login rewards, and packs. Don’t underestimate the power of free players—early on, these can be as valuable as more expensive ones.

Tip: When choosing between packs, go for ones that offer more guaranteed rewards like Diamond Player Packs or Special Event Packs. These packs might cost more, but the potential rewards can significantly improve your team.

Focus on Budget-Friendly Players

In the early game, you might not have the stubs to buy high-tier players. Instead, look for players who perform well but are still relatively affordable. Generally, players with higher attributes in core stats like contact, power, or pitching might be a good investment. You’ll want to find players that can get the job done without draining your resources.

Don't Forget About Chemistry

While it’s tempting to get the best individual players, team chemistry is just as important. Players that have strong chemistry with your squad’s existing members can help improve overall performance, especially during team-building and multiplayer modes.

3. How Can I Earn More Stubs Fast?

Stubs are critical to advancing quickly in MLB The Show 26, but how do you earn them efficiently? There are a few strategies to help you earn more stubs in less time.

Play Daily Missions

Daily missions offer simple tasks with solid rewards, including stubs. These missions are a great way to earn some extra resources without dedicating too much time. By completing these missions consistently, you’ll steadily build your stash of stubs and be in a better position to make key upgrades.

Participate in Events and Challenges

Event modes and challenges often come with good rewards, including stubs, packs, and other useful items. The key here is to participate in as many events as possible while they’re live. These events give you a chance to test out new strategies, learn new game mechanics, and, most importantly, earn more stubs.

Tip: While events and challenges are a great way to earn stubs, you’ll also want to ensure that you’re not overexerting yourself. Always balance participation with other aspects of your team-building.

Flip Items in the Marketplace

Flipping items in the marketplace is one of the most effective ways to earn stubs. After completing missions, you might have duplicate items or players you don’t need. Instead of holding onto them, you can sell them for stubs, which can then be used to purchase more valuable cards or packs.

Take Advantage of Player Investments

The marketplace is always shifting, and certain players’ values will rise and fall over time. By studying trends, you can buy players at low prices and then sell them when their value increases. This strategy is known as player flipping, and it’s an effective way to accumulate stubs over time. Watch for players who are on the verge of a rating upgrade or who are performing well in real life.

4. What Are the Best Ways to Spend My Stubs?

In MLB The Show 26, it’s easy to spend your stubs recklessly. However, if you want to be competitive early on, you should focus on investments that give you the most value in the long term.

Invest in Packs Wisely

While packs can give you a rush of excitement, they’re also a gamble. Instead of randomly buying packs, focus on ones that offer high-value cards or specific player upgrades. Look for packs that guarantee certain types of players or give you an edge in the game.

Buy Key Players for Your Roster

In the early game, it’s important to fill gaps in your roster with high-performing players. Identify positions that are weak in your lineup and use your stubs to fill those gaps with affordable but impactful players. Having a balanced roster will give you a significant advantage in the early stages of the game.

Save for Big Purchases Later

While it's tempting to splurge on new cards or upgrades, remember that it’s a long season. Saving up stubs for future purchases might be the best strategy. You can always take advantage of discounts, flash sales, or new content releases when you’ve built up a decent stash of stubs.

5. How Do I Maximize My Progress in Online Play?

Online play is where the competitive aspect of MLB The Show 26 really shines. However, to succeed in online modes, you need to ensure your team is ready. The best way to progress quickly in online play is to have a solid foundation of players, skills, and strategy.

Play the Ranked Seasons

Ranked Seasons offer more competitive gameplay than other modes, but they also offer bigger rewards. Participating in Ranked Seasons is a great way to test your skills and earn stubs, packs, and other rewards. Just be prepared for tougher opponents, as this mode attracts some of the best players.

Utilize Player Programs

Many online programs and events offer additional rewards, including exclusive player cards. These rewards can help strengthen your team and give you an edge in future matches. Be sure to keep an eye on these programs to get the most out of your time spent online.

Learn from Other Players

One of the best ways to improve in MLB The Show 26 is to learn from others. Whether it’s watching streamers or looking up strategy guides, there’s always something new to learn. Pick up new tips, improve your gameplay, and stay updated with the latest trends in the game to maintain a competitive advantage.

The early game in MLB The Show 26 is all about laying a strong foundation. Focus on building a balanced team, earning stubs through smart gameplay, and making strategic purchases. By the time you get to mid-game, your team will be stronger, and your resources will be better managed. With consistent effort and smart decision-making, you’ll gain a significant advantage over other players, setting yourself up for long-term success.

Server Move By [mention=1]

On Thursday last week, [mention=1] announced the start of the HF backend upgrade had started. With this update, the server will be moved over to allow modern development and improvements. For those who are interested in the specs and more, this thread would be worth a read as it will give you all a little bit of an insight into what the process is going to be and how much work is being done for the changes coming this year. Within the replies of the thread there have also been a few updates on the progress of what has been started so far while everything is being set up.

Happy Valentine's Day By [mention=1]

The 14th was Valentine's Day this year already and this year, with the time of love [mention=1] has changed the banner of the site and background. Some of you who are reading this right now may be seeing it as you read this. But on the special day, the award "Heart of HF" went on sale for the weekend from $200 to just $50. With this special offer, everyone is encouraged to gift the award to anyone you love on HF.

Bump Limitations By [mention=1]

Bumps on threads are in the news once again this week due to the predicted abuse that could happen on the marketplace side of the forum. Due to the bumps being abused, the function has now been altered again to only allow members to bump marketplace threads every six hours. These bumps might still feature a change again in the future, but right now six hours seems to be the right amount of time.

API App Award Goal By [mention=1]

[mention=1] has asked the community to see what the award for "API Dev" should be used for and if they should just add it to anyone who is using the API with a selection of members using the API. With this it would mean the award would be added as an award goal instead of being given out to those who make use of the API. Go and share your idea's on the thread and maybe even let us know what project you could push out with the API?

Stanley Runs HF By [mention=1]

This thread seems to be something that is maybe a future for the site, or maybe it could be something we would never want. The thread is talking about how an AI agent could pretty much take over [mention=1] role as the admin of the site and pretty much run everything moving forward. This would mean an AI would be in charge of HF and anything could happen.

A sharp breakdown of OpenAI's newly added "Contact Data" section in their privacy policy. The thread highlights how users will be able to optionally sync their phone contacts, with numbers being hashed and compared against existing OpenAI accounts to suggest connections. It also raises the more important question: how long are those hashed numbers retained?

While the feature promises convenience, the discussion quickly pivots to privacy implications, storage transparency, and whether "optional" always means harmless. Some members see it as useful social integration, others view it as the beginning of deeper data aggregation. A timely thread that blends tech awareness with healthy skepticism.

AI, ethics, and how tech can still be on our side
by [mention=5655318]

A thoughtful and grounded take on what hacktivism should evolve into in the age of AI. Instead of glorifying chaos or surface-level disruption, this post argues for capability-building: verification pipelines, digital hygiene education, responsible disclosure, anti-scam community defense, and local-first AI setups.

The core message is simple: "less spectacle, more infrastructure." Ethics isn't framed as weakness, but as operational discipline that prevents collateral damage and long-term blowback. The thread proposes frameworks for evaluating actions and even outlines actionable project ideas communities could realistically build.

Appreciation Thread
by [mention=2331053]

A wholesome community moment. [mention=2331053] received the "Bytes Bag" award unexpectedly from [mention=1871421] and took the time to publicly express gratitude. The thread highlights the collaborative spirit behind the HF News and Wiki teams and reinforces something often overlooked: recognition matters.

What stands out is the humility - emphasizing shared contribution, not entitlement. A reminder that behind the usernames and bytes, community culture is built on appreciation.

How has your life progressed since joining HF?
by [mention=101167]

A nostalgic yet insightful reflection aimed at long-time members. From teenage RuneScape gold hustles and Minecraft reselling to working in the music industry with 3x Platinum RIAA credentials, [mention=101167] shares how early "internet kid" experiments on HF shaped an entrepreneurial mindset that never led to a traditional 9–5.

The thread opens the door for others to reflect on their own growth - from skidding tools to running businesses, building families, or carving out digital careers. It's a reminder that for many, HF wasn't just a forum - it was a training ground.

GPT's Output Of "My Behavior"
by [mention=1]

A fascinating experiment sparked by a job interview question: "Based on my past conversations, can you analyze my behavioral tendencies?" The result was a highly structured personality breakdown - systems-oriented, risk-aware, optimization-driven - almost flattering in tone.

The thread quickly evolved into a broader discussion about AI-generated personality analysis, the Barnum effect, exaggeration bias, and whether GPT assessments are insightful or just polished horoscopes for technical minds. Some found it impressive, others called it "high dosage of ass kissing."

An entertaining yet surprisingly philosophical look at how AI reflects its users.

The "Second Brain": Why Your Gut Has a Mind of Its Own
We’ve all felt "butterflies" in our stomach, but science now confirms that sensation isn't just in your head. Your digestive tract is home to the Enteric Nervous System (ENS)—a complex network of 100 million neurons so sophisticated it’s earned the nickname: The Second Brain.
Key Insights into the ENS
Total Independence: Unlike other organs, your gut can "think" for itself, managing digestion and enzyme release without a single command from your skull.
The Serotonin Factory: About 95% of your body's serotonin—the "feel-good" hormone—is produced in the gut, not the brain.
Two-Way Traffic: The Vagus Nerve acts as a biological superhighway. Remarkably, 90% of the signals travel up from the gut to the brain, meaning your stomach often tells your mind how to feel.
The Gut-Brain Connection
This link explains why "gut feelings" are so visceral. When you're stressed, your brain sends signals that can disrupt digestion; conversely, an inflamed gut can send signals to the brain that trigger anxiety or "brain fog."

Advice of the week
Cut all screens 60 minutes before bed. Blue light blocks melatonin, delaying deep sleep. Swap your phone for a book to lower stress, fall asleep faster, and wake up sharper. Your brain needs an offline "wind-down" to recharge.
