Since HF began you were required to join to read threads. Today I have allowed guests to view threads. I have had some advertising wishing for this as they are hoping their stickies and threads will get more exposure (which they will).
I'm going to see how this goes for a week or so but I have a plan to actually write a plugin which will restrict guests to viewing only the first post of any thread. Currently guests see full threads and replies. I still want to encourage registrations.
Welcome back to the Hack Forum News. Where we keep you up to date on the weekly events and news happening on site and around the world. If you have never heard of the Hack Forum News, don't worry, we have you covered. We are a team of members from the Hack Forums community who are journalists and writers, and we are here to keep you in the loop of the changes around the site and the events happening around the world.
Starting the news off this week with a little bit of sad news. A member known within the community for over a decade. Recently, the site got word that the member had sadly passed away. With this passing, a thread has been created to share a prayer towards the member and to be remembered for the great interactions they had with members within the community and for everyone to get together and say their final farewells. We here at the HF news team wish [mention=96047] all the best on the other side, and thank you for being such a great member of the community.
The Hack Forums Wiki has returned. The site has been under some work recently as the site was sadly left with a load of issues and no one was running the official site. Thanks to everyone within the HF news team, the site is now under new leadership and, thanks to [mention=1] allowing the team to start their work on this while maintaining the HF news, the site is back getting some lovely changes and getting updated daily to bring it back to a new modern day Wikipedia with a load of information for everyone to read up on.
Are you looking to join the HF news team? Do you enjoy making threads or even want to become a better writer? Well, we are looking for members of the site to help write each week and are looking for anyone who has any interest. We have a few new sections opening up right now, and we would love for you to see if they would be anything of interest to you. If you are interested, please check out the thread or contact [mention=2331053] to discuss joining the team behind the HF News.

The member [mention=564970] is hosting the biggest crypto giveaway of 2026 so far on the site. There will be six winners each getting $25 in crypto. The winners will be announced on the 25th of January 2026. The winners will be randomly picked by a staff member on the site and everyone can enter more than once aswell, meaning everyone can increase their chance of winning.
The member [mention=811] is hosting a little bit of a different giveaway that is quite fun. They are hosting the giveaway with the way to enter is to post on the thread your current post count and, once you have entered all your posts on site, count towards the giveaway. So one post is equal to $1 and the more you post, the more money you could win. The giveaway ends on the 30th of January.
[mention=5655318] is hosting a contest in relation to the user group Quantum and is giving out to two winners a prize of $400 or a rare award, which is the Blazing Ember award, which is very rare as only 5 members can have this award in total, and you could be the 5th member to hold this. The giveaway ends on the 31st of January so get your entry in today.
A heartfelt post that cuts through the noise and reminds everyone what truly matters. [mention=1160828] shares the joyful news of welcoming a new baby boy into the world, while reflecting on family, health, and gratitude. It’s a quiet but powerful reminder that behind every username is a real person living real milestones. One of those threads that makes HF feel like more than just a forum.
A disturbing and highly charged discussion around a fatal shooting involving a U.S. ICE agent in Minneapolis. Conflicting accounts, eyewitness footage, and official statements have sparked outrage, protests, and demands for accountability. The thread reflects the anger, confusion, and moral discomfort many feel when state violence intersects with immigration enforcement. Heavy reading, but impossible to ignore.
Geopolitics, war tensions, and crypto speculation collide in this fast-moving thread. With conflicts involving Iran, Venezuela, and the U.S., users debate whether Bitcoin is once again becoming a hedge against instability. Mentions of Trump’s pro-BTC stance and a “doomsday plane” sighting only add fuel to the fire. Chaotic, speculative, and very on-brand for crypto discourse.
A short but fascinating discussion highlighting how AI-generated music is breaking into Billboard charts. Despite being repetitive and formulaic, these tracks are finding commercial success—raising uncomfortable questions about creativity, authenticity, and where human artists fit in the future of music. Quietly unsettling if you care about art.
A genuinely uplifting post showcasing the best side of HackForums. [mention=7] steps up and donates over $500 to scam victims—without any obligation—earning their second Earthling award. It’s a reminder that HF groups are more than colors and titles; they can represent real integrity and action. Legendary behavior, plain and simple.
Seems I've gotten word that the member [mention=96047] has passed in some type of accident. Details are obscure but I find it reliable information that indeed the member has passed.
They were on HF since 2013, spent many hours on posting over 13,000 times. We'd all enjoy Cammy in Convo. I can't say I knew very much about the member but they will be missed and it's always sad when a young life is lost.
I am closing the account but here is a final screenshot of them being open.
I'll say a private prayer for them and I wanted to eulogize them briefly as a show of respect for a fallen member.

The new year is here, and the site has had a little makeover to fit the season this year with a lovely new background and a new header image for 2026. With the changes, everyone has been sharing the love and joy for the new year. We can almost still hear the fireworks from everyone in the thread, can you?

With the new year, we found a little song that fits perfectly. We considered finding a mashup of some of the songs this year, but we know some of you wouldn't want to listen to a one hour mashup from the thread, so we found this instead. Granted, we know some of you may have enjoyed a good mashup, but this seems to fit well with the new year. We hope everyone enjoys it.
