Life/Business Decision - Need Advice

I need experienced people advice on my work/business/life decision.

-----

I'm in my mid 20s. Fairly generic life and normal job. But I have big dreams. Always had.

I have been trying to work on building a long form YouTube channel in science niche. I used to work with a different channel back in the day. So I have some experience.

Onto my channel. I only really started taking it seriously from last year. The videos take time to produce. I aim at 2 videos a month. It's because the production quality of my videos is very high. I want to keep it high. Content includes animation.

I don't want to share my channel right now.

Think of my channel as like Polymatter and Wendover Production. My strongest suit I think is my script. The content. I do great research and my content is very accurate.

So far the few comments I have gotten are overwhelming positive. A couple have said that I can be big. Though none of my videos have really gone viral. Not even a single 100K views video.

I have given myself this year as a deadline to see if I can succeed at it or not. Success here means monetization at first.

Ultimately I hope to make a living off it so then I can expand and build an empire around it. A production house with our own quality content. I want to live a life with my own business. Do not want to keep doing a job. I keep feeling like time is running out for me in life. I don't know why. Even though I'm not very old.

-----

My questions to all experienced folks here is. Should I go all in? Is this the right decision? Or am I wasting my time? What advice you would give me?

Appreciate you reading this.
My first advice.

Do not become a Youtube Franchise.

Create your own website on your own domain. Host your own videos. Use every streaming and social service that's top 10.

What you don't want, is one day YT demonetizing you and you go to zero. I read all the time about fake copyright notices (DMCA) from Indian scammers who will not only steal your content but then send DMCA notice to Google to have your original video removed. And it will take weeks or months for Google/YT to sort it out.

What's the biggest views you have now on a video? Doesn't have to be exact. And are you making any money at all now doing this?

Most viewed video has 9K Views right now. I'm not making money because my channel is not monetized because YouTube requires 1000 subs and 4K hours of watchtime within the last 12 months. I have not hit that criteria yet.
You’re definitely not wasting your time. Honestly your situation already sounds more promising than most people trying to become creators. You already have: experience and a proven niche.... That alone puts you ahead of most channels.
But I think your biggest issue isn’t talent, it’s balancing quality with output. 2 videos a month is fine if the retention and packaging are strong, but you still need enough uploads/data for the algorithm and audience to learn who you are.

Also don’t make the mistake of going “all in” emotionally and financially too early. Keep the job for stability for now. Go all in on discipline instead.
Treat it like a real business:
improve systems
study analytics
optimize thumbnails/titles
increase production speed over time
And stop thinking time is running out. Mid 20s is still early.
Most people fail because they quit too early or expect fast results. The ones who make it usually survive long enough for the compounding to happen.
If you love what you’re doing, keep working on it. The worst thing that can happen is you failing, but this will be an experience you’ve gained and you will know that you tried.

Try creating some content now and about monetisation, you can create a Patreon page where you upload exclusive content, so the people who are truly interested can support you there.

And I agree with this.

Do it because you love it. Keep up the dedication.

But honestly, you can vibe code your own website 1,2,3 to ensure that you're not under the monopoly control of one service.
I agree with what a lot of people have said here. Your clearly not wasting your time 9k views doesn't come easily, I would keep your job for the stability and once you get monetised use the income to grow If that Is the true goal.

Have you branched out into other socials? Short form content like TikTok or YouTube shorts might help you get to that monetisation goal quicker and most of the time Its using content you have already created.

What ever you do don't give up keep pushing sounds like you have a nice channel building.

First off, it sounds like you have a clear vision and strong foundation with your channel, which is crucial. Here’s some practical advice based on what you shared:

Strengths you have:
- Experience with a previous channel
- Strong scripting and research skills (content is key)
- High production quality with animations
- Positive early feedback

Should you go all in?

Yes, if you can afford to.
If you are able to dedicate most of your time and financial resources without putting yourself under severe stress , going all in is the best way to accelerate growth. Full focus will help you experiment more with content types, marketing strategies, and collaborations.

But keep a safety net.
If quitting your job or reducing hours means financial instability, consider easing into it. Many successful creators start as side projects for years before they “make it.” You can still put serious effort without burning bridges.
Thank you to all who have wrote. I have read your comments and will be implementing the feedback. Means a lot.

Then how do you take care of DMCA take downs? If you own your website can't such companies sue you?

what if you use someone's music in the video and that record label company files an DMCA take down? Couldn't they sue you?

Appreciate you reading this.

Do it because you love it. You should make 3 channels. One for what you just made, another for random videos and another one or something else.

If one channel is about science keep it that way, make a vlog channel where you can upload random videos you enjoy making sometimes even taking a camera and like going to a local store to eat or something or go urban exploring randomly could make a good video.

You want like 3 channels so you can make videos that is not science related when you don't feel like it. It helps out with burnout of ideas or getting bored o doing thins that same way over and over over similar subject matter. Unless you love doing science 24/7.

I agree to the previous replys 100%.
What i am curious about is if it is a faceless channel or not. if it is, i would try everything to keep it that way.
If it is not, you got more options for content on a 2nd/3rd channel, like someone else already mentioned.

Wish you the best and financially freedom.
In my experience YouTube is really hard, but I mean there’s guys literally making 10k a month standing in front of the camera and talking about just life. It depends on algorithm and consistency. Do not give up. As you know, YouTube earns you more and more over time.
