I personally disagree with this simply because it is also nice to have the thread ed once in a while. If its not ed you have to wait 24h to post meaning people will only see your guide for 5-10 minutes a day while its on the front page. (unless they go through all the other pages which i doubt most people do.)

Dont lock members up. I think a Post + PM is fine.
And if you think someone is begging for rep, it means they are begging for a REPort.
