how to gain administrative properties

zan1369 Wrote:Okay ill start off by saying im not the greatest at this kinda of stuff. But what i need to do is at my school we have laptops that we use. We have to use the laptops provided. They have it set up so we cannot install any programs or change any properties without administrative properties. I dont know the administrative account so i need to frind a way to give those properties to my account. or get into the admin, I cant just reset the OS, there are things i need to acess the network saved onto the computer. And i wasnt sure if i emulated an OS if i could install a program and it would still work on my OS on my harddrive.

So whats the best thing for me to do?

tl;dr: need admin status, cant reset OS. emulate?/hack admin status?

first find the administrator account...

use firefox 2(portable) and for the url type file:///c:/
and get into the user folders(documents and settings)
find a folder that looks not normal
(for example my school uses student ID numbers for the login so looking through I found out the admin's user name is Comoros

For the password it is a little trickier...

use http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ boot cd to change the admins pass(not sure how well this will work)

and ahppy hacking...
this guide didnt work for me but it is proven to have worked, check it out it mite work, http://rahulhackingarticles.wetpaint.com...tor?t=anon (i had to put that link down from my diary so i may have got it wrong, i have bad handwritting =)
on XP?

start->run "cmd" at command prompt type 'at [time] /interactive "cmd.exe" '

replace the [time] with the military time (so 1 Pm would 13:00 hours, so if it is 2:00 on the PC clock you want to use 14:05 to set the command to run 5 minutes later) now you will want to open task manager, and kill explorer.exe and wait for the new command prompt to open, depending on when you scheduled the time the command pomrpt should open after few minutes. Once it does type "explorer.exe" you should now be listed as "System" instead of the user account your on.

On a basic XP Home or Pro installation, this works locally without a problem. However on a network landscape I am not sure how this will work out.
Is there any registry key you can change to get the admin account?

If so use regedit, or if thats blocked i can build you an exploit to edit the registry without regedit.
Also try go to START > RUN > Type in without "" "control userpasswords2" and press enter. Then you can edit the admin password from there.
