Looks to be a good function.

Great work Omni, you've really been kicking ass with the public\visible updates as of late (although you're always working behind the scenes).

Do you anticipate someone in the future might want to use it? Most times leaders do use applications to recruit.. but even if you have applications closed, you may have a user who clicks that "request" button, and after doing some investigating, you may let him in. There is no harm in having the button, or letting users use it. I think an option to toggle the button would work nicely. For group owners who do not want people spamming their group, and for group owner's who don't mind it as much.
I was aware of the function, but I'd never thought that it would actually come of any use.
As Emylbus said, why not remove it entirely? Or allow it to be turned on/off by the group leader(s) if that's possible. I don't know of any groups that don't require an application or don't only operate on an invite only basis. (Aug 28, 2013 07:05 PM)Omniscient Wrote: And that's the problem. Groups don't accept them normally through the usercp BUT MyBB doesn't really have good options for group owners to toggle them and by default I have them enabled for all groups. Even worse is that MyBB doesn't allow you to permanently deny someone so if they want to spam your join requests they can. You can deny, they'll join again, you'll deny, and they join again. This will at least make sure regular members can't do this. Would it be something that could be implemented into the Enhancement Suite until there's a solid solution? I'm not experienced with the coding behind MyBB so I wouldn't know what would need to go into it. This question goes to Emylbus mainly. Obviously issues like this would have to be placed into a long queue of tasks for you (I imagine). Until then HFES offers the ability to hide the green join requests bar. Yeah I would have thought it would require some very superficial coding. And yes, that would be the best solution but I can't imagine this being a top priority task (Unless the spam is that heavy) (Aug 28, 2013 08:25 PM)iNviZ Wrote: We had over 1000 at one point in Infamous due to the fact I got sick of deleting them and it felt natural to just ignore them. It would be great if groups could just disable the function but that's all up to the boss. Agreed. The entire group leadership panel, or whatever, needs changing. This is a great addition. I know when I was group leader, it was mainly upgraded users that would spam, though. At least this'll help some. |
