Awesome idea, glad this was implemented :)

Join Group for Upgraded Members Only |
|
I was aware of the function, but I'd never thought that it would actually come of any use.
As Emylbus said, why not remove it entirely? Or allow it to be turned on/off by the group leader(s) if that's possible. I don't know of any groups that don't require an application or don't only operate on an invite only basis.
Yay another perk of being upgraded, Awesome!

For group owners who do not want people spamming their group, and for group owner's who don't mind it as much. Agreed. But unfortunately a more comprehensive setup for Group owners, as great as that would be, isn't something I currently have time to code. However it took me 15 minutes to come up with this solution and implement it. Quote:I'm new here so I wouldn't know but... Immediately I know you're a ban evading liar. Bye. Quote:I don't think I've ever seen any group want people to apply via the Join Group button. Why not just disable it entirely? Do you anticipate someone in the future might want to use it? And that's the problem. Groups don't accept them normally through the usercp BUT MyBB doesn't really have good options for group owners to toggle them and by default I have them enabled for all groups. Even worse is that MyBB doesn't allow you to permanently deny someone so if they want to spam your join requests they can. You can deny, they'll join again, you'll deny, and they join again. This will at least make sure regular members can't do this. I also want to add logs for join requests and group removals. Group owners who have multiple leaders often want to know who removed a member from their group. But that's for another day though. (Aug 28, 2013 07:05 PM)Omniscient Wrote: And that's the problem. I'm not experienced with the coding behind MyBB so I wouldn't know what would need to go into it. This question goes to Emylbus mainly. Obviously issues like this would have to be placed into a long queue of tasks for you (I imagine).

If I work with a group leader I may be able to figure out some sort of auto-deny option for them (it'd be a very hacky solution though). Until then HFES offers the ability to hide the green join requests bar. Though it'd be better for everyone if Omni had the time to make it toggleable server-side. And yes, that would be the best solution but I can't imagine this being a top priority task (Unless the spam is that heavy) |
