It's latest IP matching another user's latest IP. So technically you can match another users IP from yours changing, but that would mean they have not logged on since. If two active users have the same IP then what you are saying cannot be the case.

I realised that, so I deleted my post - I didn't know it had to be the latest IP address.

And how would exactly a new member just happening to match another member's IP? Assuming the Trust Scan doesn't fuck up, it seems very unlikely, yes i know it can happen, but for that many times to happen for you to make this thread i call multi for most of them.

I already saw my fair share of multi's being closed in minutes in the lounge, not saying all are, but this thread doesn't make sense for NEW members if it's really that common to warrant a thread.

I'm trying to think of a way the trust scan could tell whether the IP is home or cell based without giving out the ISP name, but I can't come up with anything.

You can't for 100% sure, mobile ISP's-only don't exist, at least in my country they don't, so, you can't be sure, of course there are db's and stuff to potentially check which IP range some carriers are using right now, but for a site has members from all over the world it'd be unreliable and not needed for non-staff, because it would need manual check, and even that might not be 100% accurate.

The new user could have logged in from a public hotspot, a proxy, a cellular network, etc. There's just too many possibilities to assume things.

And just right away match the latest IP of an HF member? Yes this site has large userbase, but it's fishy at best.
