This isn't working for me either. I uploaded all of the packages to the AutoInstall directory, made sure Tor was enabled, changed my proxy settings, and it says there was an HTTP error anytime I try to use Safari.

Are you using the official Tor source on the torproject.org website?

Can I de-activate tor if I have it installed?

It's a pain as of yet. You have to go to settings and erase the manual proxy settings AND click off the Tor toggle.

I'm not sure if this works anymore, I installed as directed. Internet won't load when I enable tor. I did install SB first though; would or could that be the error?

Yeah, this one installs propery and it's only 1 thing you need to d/l and install. The reason this original post doesn't work is because it relies on polipo (spelling?).
I haven't tested this out because I'm not around wifi, but I at least know I can install it from ^that post.
