As a guy who served in the Army its a joke.
But I understand why, the assholes of the US that can't take criticism and are fruit cakes are joining the Army. The Army can't deny them because they're fruit cakes, and the Drill Sergeants push them through Basic because it's easier than starting a paperwork trail to get them kicked out so they figure they will get squared away in their units. The amount of "Sexual Harassment" and "Equal Opportunity" reports that were some justified, but a majority were BS people would report to get ahead in rank and fuck over people because they're assholes. The Army had to adapt to these kind of people joining and make it fair for everyone.

There's a reason I got out.

No and if there was I'm sure we'd all like to say that we wouldn't fight for the US because they don't treat us as a people with respect. But in reality if something like the draft were to happen then we would all be infantrymen unless there is some type of skill we can use within the military (medical, engineering, any STEM) but dude other than that we are going to be on the front lines of the army, loading up mortars.

So while I highly doubt it will happen, theres no running from it if it does and that is a scary fact.

also mad respect to you Mr. Robot, I witnessed you do some pretty awesome stuff throughout my time on this site.

Not quite how a draft works.
It's the needs of the military, if you were drafted you would go to whatever branch needed troops on ground now.
Does that mean you're infantry? No.
Once you're in the your branch, let's say Army. It's now the needs of the army. Sure one day they could need infantry, that's where you'd end up.
They could also need Artillery, Medics, Cav Scouts, Pilots, Supply.

The list goes on and on. It's the same thing that happened in Vietnam, 2 years Active Duty service, whatever the Army or Marines needed.

The draft is not looking likely lol, the US hasn't even bothered putting active military members in Ukraine.

When you say "draft" do you mean Selective Services? Because not everyone has to do that (I had to sign up at 18) But SS is basically the "draft" so we don't have to have a real draft.

Selective Services would come before any draft

Yea I said the same thing on the first page.

Before a draft would be active duty, reserves, national guard, and they would call inactive status veterans back to active duty.

What I'm saying is even after all that, they'd do SS first. Selective Services is basically a draft. I'm already drafted to be conscripted into military if it comes to that. They already rolled my number and made me sign-up at 18 or face jailtime + $250k fine.

Just Google "Selective Services"

Quote:The Selective Service System (SSS) is an independent agency of the United States government that maintains information on those potentially subject to military conscription (i.e., the draft) and carries out contingency planning and preparations for two types of draft: a general draft based on registration lists of men aged 18–25, and a special-skills draft based on professional licensing lists of workers in specified health care occupations. In the event of either type of draft, the Selective Service System would send out induction notices,

There are legal and economic penalties for not signing up if you're sent a letter. Plus it's a felony.

They will throw money at it, they will let the shelves in the US go empty, they'll sell them a few rockets and weapons but the only boots on the ground right now are on the borders in NATO allied countries 'just just just just in case'. Draft isn't happening.

Just curious as to whether Putin again is going to see this as interfering. Russia wants all of Ukraine, not just 'part'. It almost seems like the US government knows this and is trying to virtue signal.
I sure hope not. I can't fight.
