To me there is no "Ethical" hacking, it seems to be more a term coined up to not scare people off. Even the white hat researchers do mischievous labs for project research. As for the question the best place to start is not with hacking, but rather your mindset. Everything can be taught, start thinking outside the box. Read books and motivate yourself, many people give up because it gets boring or tedious. It's like school you will need to continue, try books not all books only a few. Do not try to read to many books at once stay focused. My recommendations would be the following:

Starting out with Programming Logic and Design
A specific programming language not all or you'll never really get out of the basics fast enough as you would like.
CompTIA A+,NET+,SEC+ (All basic)
Hacking: The Art of Exploitation (note: this is old and the Ubuntu distro will not work on newer hardware, a VM will require system modification to run it. The book is good for learning where to start.)
Malware Analysis Cookbook (older methods but educational)
Hacking Exposed books
At this point you should know what OS you would like to use as your primary. Read more about it. Windows, Unix(looking at you MACs) and GNU/Linux I can tell you in confidence you do not know everything about the system.

Watch some nugget videos, learn about

Solid advice. But you wrong about some of the things, I have a hard time understanding what your writeing, since it's a bit messy...

what do you mean here? that he shuld start whit a programming language? well this is wrong. He wont be able to use it if he dosent understand Networking.

Other then that the rest of the post is quite solid especially the mindset part🤝
