Well I had 2 suggestions if you scroll up.

This is dumb. What about people offering services who need to update their pricing etc. I say remove it from anyone without a rank. (Aug 29, 2017 03:02 PM)Nachfolger Wrote: Cammy, dear cammy. Generally, I found people do this when they don't want to seem like a 'noob' and how one day they can say they never had that much help. I agree it sucks though.

It's just too fucked up when members edit their threads to remove the bulk of their content and it's not just every now and then. It's frequent. It's very frequent. It's bullshit. Maybe just for certain thread only like HELP thread. Some threads really need an edit for update purposes like TUTORIAL thread. 🤝 (Aug 29, 2017 03:02 PM)Nachfolger Wrote: Cammy, dear cammy. Nowadays? I'm just here for the nostalgia.

But removing the feature overall would have drastic effects on marketplace sellers, for starters. (Aug 29, 2017 06:36 PM)Nachfolger Wrote: Completely agree, no doubt. I've often wondered if losing privileges of certain features could ever be a thing here? I know post ban is already a thing, but here me out. Lots of members are kids, why not treat them like it? Abuse rep system? Get ban and rep giving suspension too. Abuse editing? Suspended from editing posts, etc ,etc. Guess it's easier to just ban and close accounts though. 😁 (Aug 29, 2017 07:00 PM)Designer Wrote: Removing or altering the edit functionality is one of the worst ideas ever. Hf is not a democracy. I'm sure Omni wouldn't remove such a feature without deep thought though.

My hat used to be somewhere along the border of being grey but over the past few years, I realized my calling is to learn and help others out in ways that I can ethically. Learn as much as you can, experience, grow, educate, and throw yourself in uncomfortable situations.

It's bullshit. :) While I agree would it be possible to limit the ability to edit to certain section/posters? For example in the marketplace I do believe that OP should be able to edit their OP for offering a discount/updating inventory numbers/adding new items to their sales thread. Because if those kinds of things couldnt be edited in and could only be posted later in the thread it would create very disorganized sales threads where a discount would show up on page x and then would end on x+y or a new item would show up on page x and the only way to see it would be to look through the entire sales thread. I do like the idea of being able to see edit history as mentioned by others in this thread. <- add edit history/add warnings to people who edit it down to a garbage post like in OP's example. |
