It's not bad honestly, better than Cordova in terms of animations and being able to spot the quality difference but from my experience mostly being focused with Cordova, and Native development I'm not the quickest with React. The biggest things I noticed with hybrid apps is feeling sluggish, now with Ionic v2, and v3 this is improved greatly but React is a better native/hybrid approach. For example, when we were developing with Ionic v1 looking back at our client's apps you can clearly tell they're hybrids, animations aren't very fluid, images load weird and randomly, etc. The common problems of mobile websites basically. React is cool also because you can blend it with an existing native app which makes it great for companies like Instagram which is actually built with React Native. Not sure if that answers your question, I've got a Raspberry Pi in one hand and my laptop in the other lol working on a prototype. Okay, I have never understood why people use these frameworks rather than just developing the native applications. Can you explain that?

One of the biggest reasons is time. Most startups including mine don't have a lot of time. We need to get to market not spend extra amounts of time building a native application. Small businesses and startups are focused on getting to market and selling not developing. Also having one codebase is extremely helpful since it allows you to rapidly develop, and rapidly improve. Another reason is it keeps cost low since time is decreased. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend native unless your application requires it, most hybrid frameworks can do everything native apps can. Then again that's my two cents. 🤫 |
