[TUT] Make Custom Animated Bootlogos [Video Included]

Tutorial on how to make your very own custom animated bootlogo for your iPhone/iPod/Ipad jailbroken on 4.2.1 with Greenpois0n or 4.3.1 with RedSn0w.

It is really easy and basic to make animated bootlogos. The main things you need to know is the canvas size, how to name the pictures, and where to place your folder with pictures. Anyone at any skill level could make atleast something.

Video Guide For Making Custom Bootlogos

Programs you can use:
-Photoshop
-Gimp
-MSPaint
-Practically any painting program.

The canvas size of your picture:
-Width=320
-Height=480
-Leave it at 72 ppi (pixel per inch)

How to save your work:
-Make a new folder named whatever you want your bootlogo to be called.
-Save your photos as a .png
-Save your first picture as "0.png" then "1.png", "2.png", and so on. I'm not sure how much is the limit. The start up time is the limit most likely.

After you are done making all of your pictures..

Using SSH, iFunBox, or the similar to copy the folder to your iDevice:
-Open the program you use to navigate your iDevice and expand it.
-Go to Library (in "Raw File System" with iFunBox)
-Then click on Bootlogos.
-Copy and paste your whole folder in Bootlogos

Turning on your bootlogo:
-Go to Settings.
-Scroll down a little and you will see a tab called "Bootlogo"
-Press on that tab and check the name of the folder you created.

Reboot (restart) and BAM.. You'll see your animated bootlogo you created! (you'll see the default Apple symbol for the first 5-10 seconds.)

This is my first tutorial to post here and I hope I help some people that were wondering how to do this.
If you have any suggestions or questions, feel free to comment here, or on my Youtube video.
I get an error when i try to enable the boot logo animation thingy
"we are unable to save your settings"
wait could it be chmod -- nup

Thank you very fucking much for this :P Been researching the other night, and couldn't find a tutorial...

Thanks! :)

Do you know if you're able to remove the regular Apple Logo? So it goes straight to the image I've chosen.

Hmm.. Is there a .plist file in /library/bootlogos called "org.chronic-dev.animate.plist"?
I heard that if you uninstall and reinstall, it should work. But it seems like some people have been having trouble uninstalling normally so some go into mobile terminal and run "dpkg -r org.chronic-dev.animate" and then reinstall apple boot logo. Try reinstalling normally before you do this. See if that works for you.

Your welcome man! I'm glad I can help!
And you can't remove the apple completely :/ Because the exploit used in greenpois0n is userland. It's most likely an upcoming exploit will feature full animated bootlogos hopefully. That would be cool.

LOL... What i'd do is download an actual boot logo and SSH your iPod/iPhone/iPad and then make another folder called MYBOOT.. Just copy frame 0.png from the boot logo to your desktop and then open it up in photoshop and just make new layers and delete the frame 0.png layer. Then SSH it in MYBOOT.

I think there is a problem with the animated bootlogo file. Not the actual folder he made. Because, it shows in the video that even the built in animated bootlogos don't work. I think reinstalling would fix the problem. He might have accidentally deleted the .plist file in the bootlogo folder.
