- Photoshop Tips | Tutorial -

I've been working in Photoshop for past four years.
While working in it, in beginning I had lots of problems, mostly with layers…
And many times, I had to start all over again!

So, today I decided to write tutorial, about Photoshop.
I'll try to tell you as many tips as I know… also… I'll try to share all problems that you might have working in Photoshop!

Before I start, I would like to say that you might know lots of those things… however, I would strongly recommend you to read it all, even if you are experienced… This tutorial cannot hurt you… it can only improves your skill in Photoshop.

So, let's start!
I would like to start off with layers, as they were making me problems for first two years working in Photoshop!
Basically, if you know how to use layers properly you have nothing to worry about, since if you know how they “work” you’ll be just fine!
Most common problem, which comes up with layer, is not duplicating Background layer.
When starting a new project in Photoshop, make sure to duplicate your “main” layer.
Or simply, after each step, save your project as .psd file on your Desktop, in case that you do something wrong, or in case that you have problems with your PC, or Photoshop.

Few more words about layers… since as I said, they are very important part of Photoshop.
Organizing layers could be very useful. If you by any chance download my thread layout .psd file, you’ll see many groups and layer in side of them… Why have I done that? “To make it easier to use”… Even though it did take me 20 minutes just to organize them, it was worth it, because now it’s much easier to edit that layout…
Naming layers could also be very useful, especially if you have many layers, for example if you are working on website template it would be good to name each layer… so layer that contains buttons is called buttons etc.
Duplicating layers is something that should be done every few minutes.
Basically, what I mean by that is that when you are done with one step, you should duplicate that layer, create new folder call Is history and put that duplicated layer in that group, and name layer step two, for example… This actually helped me lots of times… When I ruined something, I would just delete that layer, go to History Folder, and duplicate the layer of my last step.

I’m pretty sure that there are more things that you have to know about layer, but at the moment this is all I could remember, but I’ll make sure to update this thread every day!

However, now I would like to say few things that you have to know about Photoshop (working in it).
Photoshop is not as complicated as it seems, it’s actually really easy to work “with”.
People are usually scared by looking at Photoshop, since there are so many options… but they don’t realize most of them will only use few of those thousands options!
I mean, someone who needs Photoshop, only for editing his photos doesn’t need that many options… I mean, my friend is professional photographer and he use maybe 10 options in Photoshop such as Brightness and Contrast , Black and White filter, Sepia filter and maybe few more options… also if you didn’t realize by options I mean filters.
So! Don’t be scared by that many options, I can assure you that you will not use more than 50 of those, and that you’ll learn them all in few days of working in Photoshop!

Tutorials? What’s that?!
Hehe, I know many people what’ve never read any tutorial related to Photoshop…
I have a friend who learned all by himself, by randomly clicking around!
But, I would strongly recommend you to use Photoshop Tutorials!
I mean, just to make it clear… to make awesome looking pictures in Photoshop, or edit them, you don’t have to pay for instructions… everything can be found on internet…
Also, it’s normal that when you start, your work will most likely look like shit… But don’t stop because of it… by time passing by, you’ll become better and better at it…!

Originality!
I would say that it’s the most important thing… I mean, everyone can copy someone… you can even make it look better… but copy is copy… Instead of copying other people, try to make your own “art”, edit photos on your unique way, and create something that stands out, and I assure you… that people will respect you even if it’s not that good…

And that would be all from me… as I said earlier there are many more that I could talk about, but at the moment this is all I could remember… But I’ll try to update this thread on daily bases to help you all with becoming better and better!
I hope you like this tutorial, also I would ask you to let me know if I forgot something (I surly did), and if you disagree with something.

Thanks for reading.

NICE! Tutorial... the info about the layers was quite helpful :)
Very good read for an amateur like me. Although you could make the thread layout a bit nicer as it looks dull.

I know.
But there are many more tips to add, so until then, I'm not going to make special layout.
